“…This could all be part of some really fucked up test for seeing pilot-candidates’ personalities under duress and in extended isolation, now that I think about it… In which case, I’d have to try reeeeeeeeelly hard not to stab Brax in the face once I see’em again.”

“Besides questioning the validity of this mission, though… on the opposite end, if this even is a real op, what if we really did go pirating off with an IMC Widow, hypothetically speaking? Think we’d be able to just sneak in and take it, then land somewhere else to pick all our things up? Or would it be best to throw everything we’ve got at their landing site, hitting them fast and hard before they have a chance to take off?”

The titan continues rummaging through the wreckage, remaining docile, though hard to tell if it’s truly obedient, or merely disregarding the high-strung crunchies and northstar as merely non-targets… As it salvages, pulling with sickly black filaments every form of energy capacitance it can from scrounged bots and titan-husks, it begins to leave a trail of reapt refuse in wake.

The surface of its hull begins to visibly reknit and smoothen itself, able to apply sufficient electric current across the plating… Soon discovering a ruined Ronin-chassis as well, Odalisque pries it’s one cleaver-like sword from the dead titan’s locked grip, then sheathes it away upon one of two large scabbards across it’s back.

Content with a suitable weapon now in it’s possession, across it’s body the main and vernier thrusters, as well as ‘diversion-ports’ for auxiliary power then all proceed test-igniting, creating banshee-like screeches and wails as they fire up within the cave.

The synth-reptilian woman on the screen was shrieking, steel serrated teeth bared with rage as she lunged at the custodian-bot. Her mechanical fists battered its white plexiglass shell as it vaguely tried to defend itself. Its calming voice drowned out by a shrill stream of invective.

[ 🔊 ]
“Making snuff, sir?” Rameshvara commented as he entered the lab delivering a case of beer bottles.

Carbrey looked up from his console and smiled. “Hi Ramesh. No, just checking my new masterpiece. Just watch.”

Carbrey opened a voice link to the test chamber: “Coiled alizarine unconformity: stand down. Passive mode.”

The disheveled synthlady, who a moment ago had been murderously looking for a tool, suddenly dropped the pipe she was hefting. She slumped to the floor, covering her face with her hands, the fingers half-broken and contorted. Carbrey muted the sound of weeping.

“Obedience programming? That’s old hat.” The artificial-bodied shark said while offered Carbrey a bottle.

Carbrey: “Thanks. Sure. I just used the fake puppeteer neuro. The interesting part is how it got into her.”

Ramesh: “I don’t get it, I’m just a 426. By the way, who is she?”

Carbrey: “Just a random I pulled from the server. I sleeved her into that body and put her into that room. A voice command, and she hated the bot in there with her more than anything. A while before she wanted to have sex with it…”

Ramesh: “I’m sure that appealed to you.”

Carbrey: “I would be a liar if I said it didn’t… But the point is, she has a fully functional puppet network running inside her synthbrain. And it got there without me doing any psychosurgery.”

Ramesh: “How?”

Carbrey brought up a series of video clips showing his lab, happy to show off to his synthetic assistant. “I used another John Doe to infect a mind-transfer bridge with a cognovirus. First I spliced the virus into his mindprint by hand, then I had him upload using that bridge. I then printed out miss anger management with that same bridge. Works like a charm.”

Ramesh: “Let me see. You have a brain-carried virus that infects transfer bridges. Anybody who uses one of the bridges gets printed with the virus. And the virus carries a puppeteer payload allowing you to control the infected?”

Carbrey: “Almost right, my friend. I combined the puppeteer with a little neuro-AI I picked up from George’s T-Gang. The AI keeps in touch with its peers, allowing them to plan and coordinate when I’m not around. Right now both patient zero and miss random are actually in low-bandwidth subconscious contact using blog messages. That’s actually what I am testing now. The sex and violence is just to check that the puppeteer works fine.”

Ramesh: “Sure, Carbrey… Actually, you don’t need to test that any further.”

“We know it works perfectly.” The shark’s face turned spiteful.

Carbrey looked slightly perplexed at his assistant. “…How come?”

Ramesh: “Remember what you did to Raudies? And miss Brunel?”

Carbrey:”…That was ages ago. I even fixed them afterwards, and you and I are friends.”

Ramesh: “Funny that you should say that. Just this morning you said you’d do the same to me.”

The shark broke the beer bottle against the console, inspecting the jagged glass edge rimming the intact neck.

“…Coiled alizarine unconformity: fear me.

Carbrey’s eyes bulged as he retreated towards the wall, unable to avoid watching the artificial-bodied shark slowly approach silently mirroring the synth lady’s unnatural anger moments ago. He was screaming long before Ramesh even reached him.

“Ah.” Mistress Curiana Arabo waved the display closed and turned to the others in the conference space. Carbrey was pale and sweaty, but the beginning of a triumphant smile flickered at the corner of his mouth. Red Ardid stood behind him, expressionless as always. The others were watching with interest.

“Professor Carbrey, we thank you for this convincing demonstration of Coiled Alizarine. It has convinced us that your unauthorized use of scratch synths was indeed for the good of the network. A tool that makes allies deadly enemies is wondrous indeed. A tool that spreads from mind to mind is even greater. Thank you for this gift.”

Carbrey began to thank Curiana profusely.

Curiana: “I think a proper repayment for our test of Coiled Alizarine on you would be permission to multiply instances of your assistant Rameshvara. We are sure you can use him most creatively next time you need a scratch person.”

As the triumphant Carbrey left the conference space Curiana turned to Ardid: “I find sore winners most annoying. We can all do with a bit more humility. Keep Coiled Alizarine running in Carbrey, and give him to Rameshvara instead. Carbrey may’ve put the two-and-two together, but with what Rameshvara’s managed to achieve with that on a fleshen brain, he’s more than earned Carbrey’s position.”

As far as I am aware of, the Sukhoi Su-47 had no variants at all (It was, if my memory doesn’t fail me, a experimental aircraft/technology demonstrator that only got one produced, and the production of a second prototype was cancelled, the experimental technology tested on it went to the PAK-FA or Sukhoi Su-57 ). I have heard somewhere that the airplane had a stealth covering of sorts, but I doubt there was an actual stealth variant/the main purpose of it was stealth. I would dare to say the colour was mostly for decoration instead of actual effectiveness/usefulness, but I’m unsure.

It also replaces the tether trap with the shoulder-mounted laser cannon, to allow the titan to stay at far distances away from their targets and avoid unnecessary damage and close-range encounters
Notes: Audrey is a white Blue Jay male of 21 years old, the white color replacing the blue that would normally be on most other blue jays. He was born on the planet of Harmony to a single mother. Born into a life of loneliness with only a mother to take care of him, he quickly become much of an introvert, separating him from the rest of the children. It made him a more observative person, which landed him a top-tier score in the Militia tests when he applied to join at 18. He ended up as a long-range rifleman, currently in training to become an elite sniperman.

Faction/Affiliation(s):
Novo Exército do Povo (a paramilitaristic faction within the colonial league forming the Frontier Militia)
Though IMC propaganda paints the NEP (“Novo Exército do Povo”, portuguese for “New People’s Army”) as a violent regime that controls all aspects of society, suppresses civil rights, and presses the Frontier’s populace into mandatory military service for citizenship (which is all admittedly true), most residents of the faction can appreciate the vast improvements to social order, food security, and quality of life compared to the exploitative pre-revolution conditions under the thumb of the Interstellar Manufacturing Corporation.
That said, worlds beneath the NEP’s control are still not a great place to live, with plenty of ‘haves’ and ‘have-nots’ (hence the popular uprising of the Corvids, more on them later), but it’s the closest many of the cosmic hinterlands have ever been to a stable, functioning society and has without question made the citizenry better off than with the IMC in charge. The denizens of the NEP domain know that, and are willing to fight to maintain this.
Like the rest of the Frontier Militia, the NEP war machine was formed upon appropriated spaceborne and planetside military assets originally deployed by the IMC when the colonies were first founded. Elements of this force are still in service, and served as a basis for improved designs once the colonies had declared independence. Despite a fair amount of their own innovation, they still feature a comparatively high proportion of adopted ‘pre-colonial’ tech. Despite this, the army is substantial enough to prevent direct actions by the IMC.

Theo-Computationalists
*"You might think we are counting down the nine billion names of God, hoping to see the stars go out one by one. But that would be useless – the crippled Oracle AIs under control of the IMC likely calculated them all long ago when they tried to hack reality. They also discovered the hard way that the security of the Empyrean is a bit harder to breach than the mere mundane Meshnet. We do not presume to do the work of the archangels and thrones–we just seek to do the work of mortals. And that is to strive to regain the lost paradise, to try to redeem a fallen reality. Through the holophany we can see the great System Design and use this knowledge to purify ourselves from corruption so that we can be elevated to the next layer. The cherubim are watching us as we speak, waiting for us to show our promise. Glory, glory, hallelujah."*
-Deacon Bo Spolsky, interview with Darjeeling Delta Interstellar Spiritual News
Theo-Computationalists are a Christian cabalist computationalist group. Like other religious computationalists they believe that since the soul was the Aristotelian form of the mind, multiplying one’s mind into multiple conscious instances is a way to turning one’s soul into a choir that could pray and praise God more clearly. Hence they run multiple forks of themselves running continual religious exercises in virtual spaces.
In their complicated theology the cosmos is a giant information network with worlds emulated within worlds–the cherubim are the literal operating system of the universe, themselves implemented in the thoughts of higher angelic choirs. Rather than try to avert the ongoing shutdown sequence of reality they just want to praise the grand system and avoid being corrupted by the rest of civilization.

Named for the forebear of all jötnar in Norse legend, the Aurgelmir is one of the most imposing combat synthbodies ever developed. It is only found shared across armed forces of city-states and closed communities specifically inhabiting ice moons of gas giants throughout the Frontier (though black-market blueprints/copies are rumored to be available elsewhere). A massive, squat quadrupedal morph designed to be operated by up to six separate minds simultaneously, the Aurgelmir is more akin to a tank crossed with an interplanetary rocket than a regular synthbody. It is possible that a single person could fill all six mind slots at once through the use of alpha-level “xoxes” of theirself, but this has never been tested. The most common weapons mounted are linked continuous-rod flak and/or plasmaburst seeker micromissiles, femtosecond laserpulser cannons, and hypervelocity machineguns loaded with HE rounds.

Thank you. I didn’t know this product existed. It seems like a great way to test. I have a hard time grabbing the pulse ox fast enough when I wake up with a headache to see if that’s what it is, at least you get a conclusive result. but the idea of grabbing that and seeing if I feel better… That might at least combine to give me a good indicator. Really, I’ve been worried about this myself, even though I’m not that fat or old. I even quit smoking cigarettes over a couple weeks ago to see if that would help but results are as of yet inconclusive. Thank you much you might be a lifesaver here.

I’m not a doctor, but if you’ve been having headaches for a while, maybe you’ve got sleep apnea. One way to test if this is what’s happening is to grab a bottle of this bad boy and take a few hits off of it when you wake up, or when your headache gets worse.

And if the headaches go away, then you might not have enough blood in your oxygen. And if that’s the case, you might have sleep apnea, which is basically ‘you stop breathing in your sleep so much you’re not getting enough oxygen’. If that’s the case, then figuring out WHY you stop breathing is good, and getting a CPAP machine (or building your own) will probably be crazy helpful, not just for the headaches but for energy levels and ‘wanting to do shit’ and everything.

sumfin’ leik,

(cewl shid in bold text)
The term “psi,” coined by biologist Bertold P. Wiesner, was originally an umbrella term used to describe paranormal phenomena, including so-called “psychic” abilities such as telepathy and extra-sensory perception. While the term was used extensively in the field of parapsychology and pop culture in the twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, the study of psi was largely considered a pseudoscience with flawed methodologies and gradually lost funding and support.
During the Fall, however, repeated rumors and accounts of unexplained abilities drew the attention of scientists, military leaders, and singularity seekers alike. Numerous biological and nanomachine plagues had been unleashed upon humanity, racing through populations and transforming as they spread. Some inflicted only minor biological or mental changes and impairments, but many were vicious and deadly. The most feared variants, however, were those that came to be labeled as the “exsurgent virus”—a transformative plague that mutates its victims and subverts them to its will. The exsurgent virus was observed to radically modify the subject’s neural patterns and mental state, affecting synaptic arrangement and even modulating synaptic currents. In some cases, infected brains even developed new anatomical modules. With some strains, these changes alter and enhance the victim’s cognitive capabilities. In others, they also endow the capacity to sense and affect the minds of others from a short distance. Both of these are dubbed “psi” as the causal factors continue to mystify us.
A NEW EXSURGENCY
The exsurgent virus is exceptionally mutable and adaptive, however, and two Argonaut researchers who were studying it made an interesting discovery. A variant strain was found that endowed the subject with exceptional mental abilities without engaging the excessive transformative processes of the other strains. Though infection still has other drawbacks, many agencies have come to regard this strain as “safe” in the sense that it does not make the subject infectious to others, the subject does not metamorphose into an alien monstrosity, and their general personality remains intact. Intrigued that this avenue of inquiry might lead to a way to nullify the effects of other exsurgent strains, a number of groups are known to experiment with the strain with the cooperation of willing test subjects. It is known that some hypercorps and habitat authorities have also experimented with these strains using unwilling victims.
Labeled the “Watts-MacLeod” strain after the researchers who isolated it, further study has gained insight into the effect this virus has on human brains. Careful analysis of infected subjects discovered that their altered synapses generate a modulated brainwave pattern that is extremely difficult to detect. These asynchronous brainwaves are now widely referred to as “psi waves,” fitting with the Greek letter designation of other brainwaves (alpha, beta, delta, gamma, theta). Likewise, affected individuals are known as “asyncs.”
ANALYSIS OF PSI
Exploration of the explicit causal factors behind psi waves remains stymied. Neuroimaging and mapping have enabled scientists to pinpoint structures within the brain, neural activity, and perturbations in the brain’s bioelectric field that are associated with psi processes, but attempts to duplicate these features in non-infected brains have resulted in failure or worse.
Researchers have proposed a number of imaginative theories: mental processes with the ability to change quantum states, subconscious interactions with dimensions of reality we cannot normally perceive, brain modules with advanced hypercomputational abilities, or even distributed synaptic processes that manipulate some as-yet unidentified substrate of reality. At least one Argonaut has advanced the argument that asyncs may prove the Simulation Hypothesis, with their abilities functioning as “cheat codes” in a simulated universe.
Hard evidence and explanations, however, remain frustratingly inconclusive. Numerous dead ends have prompted many researchers to postulate that the mechanics underlying psi are simply too strange and too far beyond humanity’s understanding of physical sciences—perhaps reinforcing theories that the exsurgent virus is in fact of alien origin. Of course we can only speculate in accordance with known research—it is quite possible that some parties have made further breakthroughs, but are keeping the information to themselves.
The initiation and use of psi talents is generally understood to take place on a subconscious level, meaning that the async is not actively aware of the fundamental processes that trigger the effects. Practice and training, however, allows an async to focus on activating specific psi abilities. These are called “sleights:” mnemonic or cognitive algorithms that enable the ego to manifest a particular psi function. Some researchers have organized sleights into two categories.
“psi-chi” sleights are mental enhancements and new cognitive functions. These largely impact the async’s perceptions, metabolic processes, information-processing abilities, and self control. Once an async learns to activate this capability, it remains always on, like a new sense or bodily function. Some asyncs only have psi-chi abilities. A second category of
“psi-gamma” sleights involve the ability to impact biological neural functions in others. Though the range on these sleights is limited (with success rates dropping sharply after ~10 meters), the capabilities are more diverse. Specific sleights have been shown to read thoughts, affect memories, inflict damaging neurofeedback or pain, modify senses, and influence cognitive and physiological functions.
Research indicates that asyncs are able to detect and influence other asyncs at longer distances. Sleights have also proven effective on animals, though the lower the level of sentience the harder they reportedly are to affect. Asyncs capable of both psi-chi and psi-gamma sleights have shown an ability to sometimes “push” their sleights for greater effects.

The downside to having spehss magicks; you’re either sharing your headspace with a second mind, or altered mentally in an alien way. shyt leik;

THE ARCHITECT (u want to build unknown devices out of steel, flesh, bone, & exotic matter)
Your infection possesses a distinct curiosity and sense of intelligence. You often see things from a perspective that is different. It drives you to delve into the inner mechanics of things and examine how they work — whether they be machines or biological entities. The urges push beyond exploration and learning — you are often compelled to build and construct new things: architecture with inexplicable functions, strange devices, or even new forms of life. Though the virus’s exact motivation and intent remains unclear, it leaves you with an unmistakable sense of purpose.
THE BEAST (if Khornate psychers were a workable thing in 40k)
Your infection is a ravenous, bloodthirsty monster, yearning to break free. You struggle to keep it in check, placated or distracted, else the desire for carnage and mayhem overwhelms you.
THE HAUNTER (space-woke, brain broke)
The low-level dread of incomprehensible terror, flittering at the edge of perception, is your constant companion. Sometimes it is the crushing weight of the uncaring dark void that makes our extinction a near certainty, sometimes it is a more palpable, unnamable presence, an entity so beyond your ken that you are insignificant in comparison. You are plagued by unrest and unease, taunted by nightmares and a sense that reality is not always as grounded as you would like.
THE STRANGER (two corpses in one grave, & what’s more, the new one is a malevolent sociopath)
Your infection is the shadow at your side, the whispering chant of its unusual desires echoing just below the limits of your perception. It is omnipresent but patient, waiting for moments of vulnerability to steer you towards its inscrutable ends. Though its motivations are hazy, it seems to enjoy testing your limits — and those of society at large.
THE XENOMORPH (bug/fish/scalie mind-reprogramming strain)
An alien presence lives inside of you. Your instinctual responses are different from those of your original phenotype and you occasionally find yourself acting in ways more fitting to a physiology different from yours. You might feel a weird compulsion to burrow into sand, lay eggs, eat non-nutritious or dangerous substances, or clean phantom appendages that aren’t part of your current anatomy. You may even seek out prosthetics and implants that better accommodate these omnipresent urges. You sometimes express an outlook that others find strange, just as you are occasionally confused or mystified by common cultural practices. When the infection expresses itself strongly, these omnipresent urges seem quite normal, but those around you seem more and more bizarre and alien. While some asyncs report this sub-strain as adhering to a specific alien anatomy (i.e., they often feel insectoid or aquatic), others clearly feel that the alien presence within transforms and changes over time.

Week 9: I’ve been doing my physical rehab. The Forge is next week. I’m ready to do it. I pull some strings- I’m gonna see a captain at the clinic before I’m supposed to, and he’s going to reevaluate my leg so I can maybe do the Forge.
Friday, week 9: I wake up late- my battle buddies fucked me & didn’t wake me up. I grab a quitter and rush downstairs- the drill is chill. I get there(at sick call), and while standing in line…puke 4×. Obviously civilians don’t like that while we’re in corona times so I’m made to go to where the corona bois are- surprise, my quitter battle buddy is here, too. He tests positive. Guess who else tests positive?

Week 10 & 11(so far): Yeah so I’m at camp Kelly, positive side, with my battle buddy.

as he gets clear the sounds of groaning metal reach their highest point, before a large explosion rips through the metallic hull, then what had been roaring flames, thrumming gears and clanging hammers, falls silent. something the remaining heavy teslatic soldiers take as a sign to flee.

Midnight: “i think that fellow with the rotary saw spotted you.”

the hiss of mechanic legs and screeching of a saw draw nearer.

“yes, yes he did.”

Cerus: “at once, we will do what we can to unearth all secrets of the first empire… i fondly wish we wouldn’t need to focus on their weapons first.”

@Coriolanus
“an unfortunate side effect of it being a one of a kind artifact… which brings me to your secondary, though probably more important objective. all that we teslatics have has been built on the architect’s writings, with a few minor contributions and improvements done by ourselves, anything you find, research notes, test reports, blueprints… bring it here. if you find his research on the aetheric winds we can probably replicate it or even find a way for it to be safer.”

Default search

If you do not specify a field to search over, the search engine will search for posts with a body that is similar to the query's word stems. For example, posts containing the words winged humanization, wings, and spread wings would all be found by a search for wing, but sewing would not be.
