For the uninitiated: Pseudowyvern is a term used within the Monster Hunter community for wyverns (i.e. dragonlike creatures with four limbs and the front pair of limbs functioning as wings) that can use their wings as another pair of legs. An example of a monster that is a “normal” wyvern (or “flying wyvern” in MH terminology) would be rathalos, an example of a pseudowyvern would be tigrex.

My question is: Are these pseudowyvern-type creatures widespread enough outside of Monster Hunter to warrant a separate species tag for them, and if yes, are there any other terms for them that could be used? (I would suggest “tetrapod wyvern” myself).

And that isn’t even getting into all the (very negative) influence the US exerts, both by soft power and via the CIA, in the global south.

In the end, doing a blanket ban on “politics”, besides the issues of almost guaranteed unqueal enforcement (there is no clear line for where something starts to become political) is simply cowardice. Cowardice of wanting to remove reactionaries (which is a good aim) without appearing to take a side - so you do a generic “politics bad guys” stance, or maybe a blanket “extremism bad”, which ultimately just serves to excuse reactionary positions, by way of equating them morally with progressive ones.

I see people claiming that all the time, but they always fail to provide any evidence that depictions of such things actually have a causal relationship to making people commit real-life zoophilia.

If you did it knowing it would upset me, and posted it on this site with intent to upset me, I believe that would fall afoul of Rule #0, regardless of the specific content of the art.

If you want to make an argument, actually make a comparison that is similar to the topic which is being discussed.

@Anonymous #EA4B
Leaving aside that art should just not be policed period, with that there is at least in a lot of cases (the ones where the body is that of an actual child, rather than an adolescent) an easy way to tell the “truth”. With sapient vs nonsapient ferals, there are a lot of cases where you cannot tell - is a picture of a horse railing a human a sapient horse, or a nonsapient one just following its instincts?

@Teaspoon
Even if all feral art was banned, some malicious actor could, as Gyro said, nail this site on copyright grounds alone.

Since in basically all jurisdictions “innocent unless proven guilty” is a core maxim of the legal system, the inherent ambiguity in feral art should be an advantage - as long as the artist claims that the animal in question is sapient, or makes no claim either way, it is basically impossible to prove that a situation that would be called bestiality is present.

And aside from any legal discussions, I do not think art should be policed in general. It is fictional, with no involvement of, and thus no harm to, real-life animals (or humans, in case of e.g. snuff art or noncon content that depicts things that would be illegal to do to IRL humans). Of course stupid laws exist, but those laws should be changed - and what should definitely not be done is assuming the law represents any form of morality.

I understand why character tags in general do not imply species - as one character might be drawn as different species. However, in cases where there are multiple major enough species variations of one character to warrant their own tags, of the form “character (species)”, I think that these should imply the respective character species - so for example, “oc:gyro feather (gryphon)” should imply “peacock gryphon”.

I think adding a mature category is the best way, and that also if it is added, the “→ Visible sexual arousal (erect penises, vaginal secretions)” part of explicit should be folded into the mature category, leaving explicit really only for, well, explicit depictions of sexual activity.

  1. oc:zuthal

  2. Zuthal

  3. tatzlpony / gryphon male

  4. Usually a tatzlpony, but also sometimes (often due to potion shenanigans with his zebra friend Ruzeth) a gryphon, Zuthal in either form is a usually friendly and curious fellow, who left his tribe and homeland to explore the wider world. He is also often seen paired with his marefriend, Tihan.
