This thread is for Rating Tags discussion specifically. If you as an user ever have any doubts on what would be the appropriate Rating Tag for an image you’re welcome to voice the matter here.
 
Please provide a link to the image using the >>1 format and state your doubt, a Staff Member will analyse the case and provide the image with it’s correct Rating Tag.
 
We kindly ask everyone not to engage in “Tag Wars” with other users regarding Rating Tag of an image, always defer to a Staff Member verdict.

Welcome to the Original Character (OC) Tag Categorization thread! Here at Furbooru the Purple coloured tags are reserved for original creation characters such as fursonas.
 
The tag format is oc:name, eg oc:midnight cakepowder
 
On this thread you as the OC creator may request the addition of a tag description following this format:
 
 
-> 1. List the Character’s name. Use a relative link. If you don’t know how, just copy and paste the text below and replace anon or fluffle puff with the name you’re requesting a description for:  

 
-> IMPORTANT This link must be entirely in lowercase; the link won’t work otherwise.
 
-> 2. List the creator’s Furbooru account You can link the account in the post the same way as you do the OC name in step 1:  

 
-> 3. List the character’s species and (primary) sex. Use whatever binary or nonbinary terms you wish.
 
-> 4. Description: Write one or two lines describing their personality, hobbies, job, physical traits, sexual orientation, or other characteristics that are noteworthy. This must be safe/suggestive-rated (even if a majority of the pictures of the character are not), so be creative. If they are involved somehow (employed by, related to, lover of, neighbors of, etc.) with another character (canon or OC), mention it. Please link any other related OC in the same manner as the link in step 1.
 
-> 5. Image Link a safe/suggestive-rated image of the character that is posted on Furbooru. Link using the >>123456s format. Images where they are solo are greatly preferred.
 
A Staff Member will add the provide information to your OC:Tag, ultimately if you have any doubts regarding the process we’re always available to assist

Welcome to the Character Tag Categorization thread! Here at Furbooru the blue coloured tags are reserved for characters from known sources such as TV Shows, Comic Books, Mangas, Animations in general, Video Games and Famous Community Made.
 
The format is Name (Source), eg. Princess Ember (MLP) or Cynder the dragon (Spyro)
 
So please, we kindly request the community’s assistance to locate every new applicable character tag so it can be properly turned into a blue character tag with appropriated description.

Furbooru’s rating tags are quite a bit different from Derpibooru. Derpibooru is a site oriented at My Little Pony, a show that is supposed to be for kids, while Furbooru is a site based around the Furry Fandom. Because of our more mature audience, the rating tags were also changed to be a lot more lenient to artistic nudity. As it stands right now, the rating tags are as follows:

This thread purpose is to properly categorize Species tags that are lacking the Brown colour (specific to Species).
 
If you come across any Species tag that are still green please mention it below following this provided formatting:

Don’t forget the group the species belong to, ie mammal, bird, reptile, amphibian, fish, arthropod.
 
Regarding fictional species like Pokémon and Digimon, due to their unclear nature they should only imply their primary classes i.e; mammal, bird, reptile, fish, etc. They should not imply actual IRL species as they are their own species.
 
A Staff Member will work on your request as soon as they can, only bump your request if a considerable amount of time has passed.

Welcome to Furbooru! It’s like Derpibooru, but for furry artwork!
 
This site is not officially open quite yet - there’s still a lot of setup and work to be done before it’s ready, but we hope to have the official opening in the next few weeks. In the mean time, this is like a “beta” version of the site. Everything’s currently usable, and you’re able to create an account, post content, comment, fave, etc. Just please be aware that over the next few weeks things will likely be changing a bit. Some things to keep in mind right now though:
 
Rules and tagging/rating guidelines are still a work in progress

Tagging guidelines are still being worked on as well. The most important tags, however, are ratings tags, and the site will not let you upload an image without one. The specific details of ratings guidelines can be found here
 
Tags can have spaces, and are separated by commas  
This one is pretty important for anyone who’s familiar with booru-style imageboards, but has not used Derpibooru. Unlike most booru-style websites, where tags are separated by spaces and words are separated by underscores, we use commas to separate tags. This also means that tag names can have spaces in them, so they’re more natural language.
 
For example, on other booru-style imageboards, you may type “solo_female looking_at_you fox”. On Furbooru, you would instead type “solo female, looking at you, fox”. This applies to both searching and tagging images. We’ve found that this is a lot easier and more user friendly, and makes tags look cleaner as well.
