Welcome to Furbooru! It's like Derpibooru, but for furry artwork!
This site is not officially open quite yet - there's still a lot of setup and work to be done before it's ready, but we hope to have the official opening in the next few weeks. In the mean time, this is like a "beta" version of the site. Everything's currently usable, and you're able to create an account, post content, comment, fave, etc. Just please be aware that over the next few weeks things will likely be changing a bit. Some things to keep in mind right now though:
-*The beta server is not too powerful*-
-Image processing may be a bit slow when you upload a image. Likewise, the site's performance may be a little bit slow and laggy initially. We're planning on moving the site to a more powerful, capable server before the official launch.-
*Rules and tagging/rating guidelines are still a work in progress*
A very brief overview of the site's rules is available "here":/pages/rules. They will be flushed out and expanded upon shortly.
Tagging guidelines are still being worked on as well. The most important tags, however, are ratings tags, and the site will not let you upload an image without one. The specific details of ratings tags are being worked out, but for now you can go with:
-> *safe* - images that are age-appropriate and contain no objectionable content
-> *suggestive* - images that are "saucy" or sexually suggestive
-> *questionable* - images that contain nudity or heavily adult (but non-sexual) themes
-> *explicit* - images that are sexual/pornographic in nature
-> *grimdark* - dark themes (death, abuse, etc)
-> *grotesque* - images that are extremely violent or gory, body horror, etc
Note that these are subject to change or be shuffled a bit, but that is a good baseline for now. Once the tagging guidelines are finalized, the site staff will adjust tags on images as needed.
-*We're still de-ponifying the site*-
-Furbooru is brought to you by the people who run "Derpibooru":https://derpibooru.org, the pony fandom's premier imagebooru. As such, the software we're using is heavily tailored towards a pony website, so you're going to see a number of references to MLP and the pony fandom (such as avatars, site graphics, text on the site, etc). We're in the process of removing/generalizing these references, as well as giving Furbooru it's own unique theme and identity.-
-*The captcha is still ponies too, we're changing that too*-
-Note that the numbers/orders change. We'll try to get this replaced as soon as possible.-
*Tags can have spaces, and are separated by commas*
This one is pretty important for anyone who's familiar with booru-style imageboards, but has not used Derpibooru. Unlike most booru-style websites, where tags are separated by spaces and words are separated by underscores, we use commas to separate tags. This also means that tag names can have spaces in them, so they're more natural language.
For example, on other booru-style imageboards, you may type "solo_female looking_at_you fox". On Furbooru, you would instead type "solo female, looking at you, fox". This applies to both searching and tagging images. We've found that this is a lot easier and more user friendly, and makes tags look cleaner as well.
*We're very open to suggestions*
If you have thoughts or suggestions on what you'd like to see from the site, please share them!
