There are a few reasons why I chose a spotted hyena as my fursona species.
Cultural reason
There are more people who hate hyenas than there are people who like hyenas. This is very similar to how people view my Jewish heritage. I will be comparing antisemitic tropes with false information connected to hyenas.

Hyenas are feliform (related to cats, mongeese, and meerkats)/Jewish is it’s own ethnicity, it is also a religion meaning that anyone of any race could be Jewish - Hyenas are thieves/Jews are greedy
Hyenas actually get their food stolen by lions quite a lot./ Jews have been blamed for the evils of profit and capitalism - Hyenas are hermaphrodites/The weird conspiracy that Jewish males menstruate
Hyenas are not hermaphrodites, what they’re referring to is the female’s enlarged clitoris caused by the high testosterone produced by their ovaries/I don’t know much about this concept but there’s an entire Wikipedia article about it.
I sympathise with hyenas, the poor creatures don’t deserve all this hate either.
PCOS
PCOS is a hormonal disorder caused by cysts forming on the ovaries. Symptoms include heavy periods, excess body hair, and mood swings due to the imbalance of oestrogen and androgen.
Female hyenas naturally produce lots of androgen, making them bigger than the males and even look anatomically similar to males which I mentioned in more detail earlier.
