^{“Damn straight.”} Our local caffeine addict pops one in, interested 100% in staying awake and alert, and as far as she decided, this was the way to go.

shed find kat in the station at that moment, a large pair of Rail Snipers next to eachother, the black one split and components out in kats hands. She was cleaning them evidently

Amy turned away and made her way to the speaker platform. it would be time to address the crew soon.

“Ma’am, I’ll only do what is genuinely necessary for our safety. I may not be a trusting person but I’m not heartless. Or careless…whatever the word is. I’m doing my best for this project- not for myself,” she calls back, stopping near the door, her doggo eyes watching Amy, ears perked.

“I’ll take it.” And with that, she makes to leave the room.

(we’re talking a colonizer spaceship that has to deal with foreign bacteria, and all the fun things those do to immune systems of both brought along plant and animal life or the colonists themselves and hails from an age where medical scanners were of the quality and quantity to be mounted on all airlocks.)
 
Amy: “i cannot tell you the rules of engagement unless i make a broad statement like “keep the colonists save””

“I don’t know what that’s supposed to mean in relation to the question, though. I mean…don’t get me wrong- I’d love if this place were the perfectly impenetrable stronghold I’ve never experienced before, but it doesn’t answer the question.”

“That’s fantastic,” she says, actually sounding happy about it and not sarcastic, her tail even wagging a bit. “For me, anyways. Much appreciated. We’ll talk rules of engagement after we learn what the problem is; everything before then will be mimmic law enforcement: self-defense and threat-neutralization if it comes to that.”

“I need to know my rules of engagement; I use as much discretion as I can and I don’t consider self-defense bad but I’m probably harsher than you are. I guess this’ll change as we go and I should probably just wait until we find out what we’re dealing with, if anything- it could be weather-related,” she speculates. “I guess, uh…are the locks on-board RFID-based? I’m not nitpicking or raising a security concern- I genuinely just need to know for my own purposes.”
