entering the lower levels he encounters mostly scrapped projects, automaton pets, robot cleaners that never figured out what was and wasn’t dirt, and in the middle of the room an enormous eye looking contraption, looking as if it had been desperately and repeatedly struck with a tesla cannon. considering the scorch marks in the room itself it had probably gone out of control and been destroyed.

After circuiting the room for anything in paper, he heads for the large central ocular device, then steps out of his suit, checking the faraday harness imbedded into the mechanized armor’s back, before finally rooting around inside the mechanical eye.

Now, we have to let these two get back to the mechanists under the guise of a pow escape. So, i plan to let them and ithers do just that.

reading through he finds the orb had been created by master guericke as a security system to identify and reveal formidian spies. It had two design flaws, one, the notes speak of utilizing heat to force them out of their disguise, and two, the plans had been messed with.  
It could be reasoned that the “finished” orb just falsely identified everyone and began giving them heated glares for it. As he roots around the innards he finds the heat projector, something could probably be done with that… wait a second the machinery was still moving.

Zooming back into his powersuit, a steel hand dives into the mechanical eye’s innards, tearing out the heat collimator before anything harmful likely becomes of it–no need for it to have a murder-spotlight anymore anyways–then waits a few moments to see what it’ll do next.

as he approaches the return he finds security had been tightened since he left, most posts were manned by treants and floranim soldiers though. wghat few catfolk there were seemed to have been armed with looted Teslatic equipment.

the eye opened and turned at him, looking for some time then clicking was heard… the clicking of a trigger that was no longer triggering things.
 
the mechanic lid closed to a glare after a few moments, as it quietly gave him the stink eye unable to do anything else.

“the trade princes got themelves involved they chased the teslatics off, what few they didn’t put into chains anyways, they took over the operation and are harvesting the forest now, despite efforts from two sides to push them back, we got most of this gear when we pushed them from the lumber camps but apparently their supply of reinforcements are endless.”
