“Rgw Houses really did fall far from the tree, didn’t they…” With a raised handsign, he silently orders the other group to halt for a second. “We’ll have to come back again one day for the Arcanum, maybe find the root cause to all of, well, this-” He says, waving to the grotesque vista around them. “For now, we’ll make our way to that brass structure with the tube poking out the roof.”
 
“You there, lieutenant Koldo-” Summoning one of his Kobold Legionmechs, “Go tell the other group where we’re headed now, then stay with them and send one of their Legionmechs back to us.”

After a brief dull, yet tense moments “‘crastinatin’ in the cack” as Kobolds call it, the Legionmechs exchange across groups, before moving again, steadily through the terrain toward their brazen-topped goal.
 
Koldo: “…I don’t get nightmares, but I know Imma see this place again in my sleep.” ^%D:%

Reaching both sides of a large park at the foot of the archineer’s tower, then passing near-solemnly by massive cyclopean clocks, orreries, and once-animate statues now all grown over with fleshen carpets and tapestries, the battlegroup kick down the doors into the façade, entering the defiled halls of their House’s forebear.

sure enough the covered statues do begin moving again, and the fleshy masses of… stuff, similarly arise, some inflating before lugging globs of… stuff… at the units.

Standing within the threshold by now, Koldo fires an airburst at the glob-salvo, disintegrating it all mid-air before it can reach them. The last two powersuits of the group making it in then throw the massive doors back closed, holding them shut while others pack a few tons of furniture onto the entrance to brace it sealed…
 
Indra: “…Well, we’re boned. If we’re gonna make it out of here, I suggest we find what we’ve been sent here for; maybe we tap it unto a powersuit’s scorchlamp and burn our way back out this flesh-heap of a city…”
 
Moving deeper in, the group search for flights of stairs and across the papers of their maps, looking for whether they may have to descend down, or make their way further up onto higher floors above.
 
Indra: “I heard about tides of ‘corpuscles’ swarming over everything when this city went under… keep the baily-guns, zappers, and scorchlights ready.”

by the files the machinery was in the bowels of the structure, with possible keys being likely up above.

Scaling the tower interior by walking up a grand-sized stairwell to their objective, passed barricaded windows let slivers of pale sunlight through, but they listen still for every odd noise heard, and at a certain point, begin hearing wind even through the windows, indicating their height from ground level…

(Btw, i imagine the cabalite lands to be almost blackened, very dark, almost evil looking.

“they will get to it but the destructive results may fall short with the downsizing. then again the current one melts a fortress down. in other news, they have a secondary alliance with the floranim’s client catfolk, which gives us an opening into the forests allowing us to actually pincer most of empyrea’s lands between us and them, of course it also means the mechanists will be a problem, but with their deep hate for magic that was gonna happen anyways.”
