the Ecclesia called upon the might of the heavenly hosts, long proven real and now getting involved in stopping these horrors, but demanding deep cuts into personal freedoms, seeing them as the root cause for the disaster. these were very mobile forces and the embodiment of air superiority, but oppressive and unkind even to those that bent the knee willingly, holding every person to exacting standards.
opposing them stood the Cabal, aided by insectoid dwellers of the world that had always been outsiders even in empyria. they oppose absolute order, agreeing that the eldritch mosntrosities needed to be stopped but convinced that the ecclesiastical victory would spell something worse than death. having long seen the heavenly as hypocrites. they receive aid in the balefires of hell, itself a force of order too but much more lenient than heaven, they are punishers and judges, true to their primordial mission.
the Floranim plant people, long fearing the advancements of the modern world, have either through corruption or simply out of desperation turned on the empire, their forests grow, as do the beasts therein, and with the Floranim at the vanguard, they seek to reconquer all that mother nature had to give up.
but Progress will not be stopped, not if the Teslatic have a say in the matter, these are the powers of steel, steam, and Gunpowder, wielded with purpose to reforge the continent, for progress and safety, they abandoned the magical arts, with the exception of totems, that tribes have introduced as effective wards.
The Noblians of Neo-Empyrea see all these factions as traitors, enemies, or traitorous enemies, they are the representation of all magic, holding the mountainous citadels of the old empire, and pressing all without the spark into service, one way or another, so that the mage dominion may reconquer. gone is the glory and honor of the empire, now only might matters.
but the Uruk the trading princes of the east, wish nothing to do with any of these powers, but there is a war on, and conquest, is profit, mercenaries will sell all their skill and soul, why not invest into their own future, ruler of the world ought to end toll and tariff, once the messes are dealt with only they could return prosperity.
(As player you have free pick, or write a short introduction for your own faction if you like, just remember one thing, even the ones in the same may be too ambitious to trust.)
