With the number of other boorus that already exist, a few of them focused on furry no less, I have to wonder what you’re hoping to archive with adding yet another to the oversaturated mix. If you see a street filled with Italian restaurants, is your first thought to open a pizzaria in the middle?
 
So, my question boils to: what are you expecting from creating this site, what makes furbooru a better option than say, e621?
 
Also in a more personal opinion note, the color scheme is really, really uncomfortable to look at.

We simply hope to bring our own take on the booru. We have advanced content filtering, searching and ease of use that I personally haven’t seen anywhere else.

You can change the color scheme in settings, go to display and choose a theme.

When making a filter, on the complex hide filter box it lets me do my:upvotes but it won’t let me add my:downvotes?  
When I try it gives me the error  

How do I add my:downvotes into my complex hide filter?

Or am I doing something wrong that could easily be fixed?

You have to add a public user link to your profile. To do that go to your profile and then click on “User Link” on the left side, and follow instructions that are there. Some more info about badges is in the FAQ in the Accounts section: https://furbooru.org/pages/faq
