Yes, this weekend we will hit the final hammer on killing the two tags and making the proper explanation on how fictional species should be the proper work around. There was still discussions taking place on the Discord Server reason why they remained this far.
 
Tomorrow I expect to also finish Pokémon species which will only imply their ‘families’ mammal, bird, fish etc… alongside fictional species for the differentiating purpose.

So it’s been two weeks since the last post in here, and it looks like ‘fictional species’ has been pretty well implemented, but ‘scalie’ and ‘avian’ are still active and keep piling up. Is that change still going ahead?

If more than one character used the same design under the same name and if it looked rather unique, because any canine A x canine B hybrid will look just like any other canine most of the time :P
 
e.g if there were multiple “eeldragon” characters then I think its worth having it as a tag, but if it was just a single one then you can as well search for this OC’s name and get the same result.

Basically if they make their oc into a hybrid and give it a name?

“aragonian” is just misspelled “argonian” and can be aliased.
 
Also I think if somebody makes a hybrid into their original species it should stay as a tag.

Additonaly I noticed the following issues in tagging:
 
hybrid -> fictional species | Under the more often than not. Most hybrids will not be ligers or mule or zorse. Additionally, irl hybrids might make do by actually having a species tag.

A feline charecter can have a fictional species tag.

I was referring the comment about whether or not robots and artificial species warranted having ‘fictional species’ implied. I’m fine with something getting both ‘feline’ and ‘fictional species’ if it applies.

Either we say that she’s not feline, or we say that pokémon species can get suitable irl animal/family tags. There really aren’t any other viable ways out of that, unless you want to create an alternate species tag for every animal that’s called “fictional [specific tag]” like fictional feline which would be pretty stupid imo.
 
I mean, look at this:  
 
If you didn’t know this was an alien species that didn’t nurse young and didn’t even have DNA-based genetics, would you know not to tag this feline and mammal?

Yup, this is the basic thrust that we’re getting at here. Fictional Species <implied by< original species, IP species, mythological species.
 
I’d say robots and such ought to be fictional, since they don’t currently exist, and even then a lot of them will probably remain fictional.

I saw “IP fictional species” and “original fictional species” if these do become tags I think they should come with “fictional species” tag implied and those other two can be sub tags to the main fictional species tag.  
Since both exist only in fiction be they an Intlectual Property or someones Origional Creation.
 
Not sure if artificial species or robo/techfurs would fall under that since it may be possible to create them for real at some point.

I think they’re useful as well, though as subtags under an overall ‘fictional species’. That may be more new tags than some folk would like, but it’s a worthwhile distinction to make.

I did a quick FA search for blumpig, in case you were refering to an actual fictional species. Can never tell with this fandom. :P

If we’re going with the fictional species tag, then I could see these as being useful - not just for helping to narrow the field a bit, but also so that when some new image comes along of Snardbort the blumpig, those tags can be added to help folks like me figure out just what kind of species “blumpig” is.

What do we think about the Original species/ published species/mythological species split? I think its useful, but I”m not as hardline about it.

“Artificial species” feels similar to “artificial intelligence”, I would use that maybe for species that were created in a lab (but I think this kind of origin is not an important information and should not be tagged anyway) rather than for all of the non-real ones :P

Is ‘artificial species’ the preferred term? I still think ‘fictional species’ is a better name, but I’m not necessarily married to it.
