Do we even need a tag like “talking”? Isn’t dialogue the same thing? If there is no dialogue you can’t tell if somebody is talking or just have their mouth open.

To me, dialogue is when two or more characters are talking to each other; an exchange is required.

Of course technically there is monologue or dialogue (and then trialogue and all the other -logues) but I don’t think such distinction is needed for tagging purposes.

Up until recently, I had felt that exact same way, until someone brought that very topic up on a Derpibooru forum that never was really truly resolved.

I have them imply for a reason as most results WILL be MLP ponies, and they can be removed if they are not. Implications are not a 100% thing, they are a 98% thing. On Derpi we imply genders from ships even tho they can be genderswapped, tags can be edited after the fact. There is a metric ton of MLP related unicorns and pegasi, but not a ton of non-pony versions, and those that are, just remove the added tag, not a big deal.
 
I thought ahead and thought about what will be most likely to occur. Implications are never devoid of incorrectness, you just cover what is most likely to happen.

Maybe you are right. Partially. I counted on e621:
 
7.62% of posts tagged as “unicorn” does not have “mlp” tag.  
2.00% for “pegasus”  
0.89% for “winged unicorn” (alicorn)  
and for comparison  
92.69% for “dragon” ;)
 
So by that logic unicorn and alicorn should imply “pony” but unicorn should not, because its not true 98% of time, just 92.38% of time ;)
