As the attack-cloud rapidly closes distance, the large missile begins rotating on its roll-axis, centrifugally flinging two separate warheads toward the two vessels, while the kirklin drones deploy weapons hot.
 
Far behind meanwhile, a streak of projectiles begin kicking out of the Cyhyraeth’s mass driver, then split into two broken streams divvied between the two opportunistic raiders. The Cyhyraeth itself keeps its bearing set toward the satellite.

the small stream impact but seem to have no lasting effect, the missiles however hit them hard, causing them to catch fire and one seeming to gun it in order to ram through.

A sequence of laser pulses orders one of the four drones to alter course and intercept. Sacrificing a few arms to impact at just the right spot, it hurdles straight into a damaged hull-portion of the raider and detonates its lutetium nuclear battery.
 
The drone bursts into a cloud of intense gamma rays and shrapnel flooded into the vessel that ricochets several times within the dense armor plating, shredding up the delicate interior while exposing onboard crew to open vacuum.
 
The Cyhyraeth meanwhile alters course slightly; incandescent plasma erupting out one side to dodge the incoming hull.

mass in motion remains in motion until it impacts something as sir issac newton informs, and the explosion had not been entirely successful in stopping this freighter.

The plasma exhaust pluming out of the Cyhyraeth’s side flickers off for a second, then is replaced by pillars of white flame–the metastable helium stores having been fed directly into the exhaust: the Shinra vessel makes a sudden break in the direction of thrust, dodging to the side, while the raid-vessel is instantly liquified as it passes… On the extended antenna, Indra holds even more firmly on after nearly having lost grip.
 
A second burst cancels out the redirection, putting the Cyhyraeth back unto its original course, while a wing of 6 thinly-built drone fighters deploy from the upper-starboard module, accelerating forth to join the missile and 3 remaining kirklin drones.

_by now the space fight had clearly turned, a few of the vessels heading for the atmosphere where the alrge ship couldn’t follow.(irregardless of whichever explanation to the contrary, if it’s big it’s not for atmosphere.)

The attack-cloud disperses to avoid impacting the orbital defense: the fighters return to their hangar, while the kirklin drones and missile fly far past and safely self-destruct. The Cyhyraeth meanwhile decreases velocity relative to the satellite, passing a hair’s breadth of distance from the structure.
 
Indra then takes one small handfooted ‘‘step’’, boarding while his vessel continues on doing its best to circularize orbit:
 
it should make another pass in about 2 hours.

Taking in the view for a moment, he watches the entire world overhead slowly rolling by, the shattered hulks destroyed in the fight drifting around… He then climbs down the lifeline-scaffold clung upon, searching for any access hatches into the satellite.

once his proximity had registered green lights guided him to an airlock, and once that had run through its procedures he entered to a mostly barren service station, the insides having not seen much use since the assembly crew left, a few patrolbots and maintenance units making their rounds being the only company he had at the moment.
 
“welcome aboard, ID-Scan denotes you as: Shinra Scientist, the company is always grateful to your contributions to a better tomorrow, no indication found that you belong to the research staff for planetside operations. query: what brings you here, doctor?”

(our boys are en route to the planetside refinery, the wutai raiders that had small enough ships are hiding on the planet’s wilderness, so that the ones inside the refinery have a retreat location.)

Midnight: “keeping our sentinel friend on standby, the raiders just got past the sweeper platforms and arte entering the inner works of the refinery, project mandala is located behind containment shields at the core, and Mako steam inside the building will likely allow the raiders to actually throw magic your way without use of materia.”

with what can only be described as a mechanical roar the mechanized scorpion deploys.
 
Ceri: “heavy armor, fast movement and a 360° attack field beam cannon, not to mention the internal weaponry. one might argue a pair of turks is already one more than needed, but overkill is just a word, right?”

as they enter they find that the AI had undersold the threat of these scavengers, them having already cut a path of immense property damage into the refinery.
 
“do they think that if they get to the center they can just pick materia out of the main bassin?”
