400,000km away behind them, a signature flares into existence. Inspected, it’s revealed to be a large Shinra war vessel with significant hull damage, immediately attempting to trim its course into a park orbit to land unto the planet, despite the hostile picketing raid.

Checking it’s predicted pathway, it seems to be plotted directly toward an orbiting waystation.

The vessel’s front engines flare up, decelerating it as “kirklin” fighter-screening drones are released from the upper-starboard module, followed a few seconds later by a shimmer of gas from the lower-portside module, preamble to a long-range missile’s cold departure from a silo.
 
As the slowing vessel stays its course toward the satellite,
 
the tetrahedrally-shaped drones and single large missile continue onward at high speed toward the raiders.
