With the recent release of the documentary American Circumcision I thought I’d take the opportunity to talk about the issue again and share a full size version of a commission I got a few years ago.
Circumcision is the most common surgery in America, so if you live here you probably know somebody who was affected by it. Whether it be your father, your brother, your partner, or a close friend.
This issue deals with sex, politics, and religion, all in the most personal way possible. It’s such a complex issue that it would be impossible to cover it in a short time, so I would highly recommend you watch the documentary.
This documentary has the important people on both sides of the circumcision debate so neither side can ignore it.
If you know somebody who was affected by this, or if you are simply looking to be awakened on this issue, then I recommend it.

As someone who believes in the freedom America was founded on, I believe infant circumcision should be banned because you are not free unless you own yourself.
To argue that parents should be able to make a radical, permanent, unnecessary and harmful decision about their child’s body is nonsense.
Infants/children cannot give informed consent and they’re the ones that are gonna have to live with the consequences of that decision for the rest of their lives.
Female circumcision is already illegal. Males deserve the same protection under law.
Cultures that defend female circumcision use the same arguments people use to defend male circumcision.
The reality is, circumcision is not cleaner, it does not prevent HIV, and it is not more aesthetic.
There are no benefits to circumcision. Any so-called “benefits” can be achieved without resorting to genital cutting. Condoms prevent STDs/HIV. NOT circumcision.
The removal of the foreskin removes thousands of nerve endings, and without the protection of the foreskin, the glans is left exposed, causing it to dry, and become keratinized and desensitized by rubbing up against clothing.
Circumcision should not be a parental right. Circumcision robs people of experiencing their own bodies. Bodies that are the product of millions of years of evolution.

I’m happy for you. Any medically necessary circumcision is morally sound, provided there exists an actual problem to be remedied. The anti-circumcision folks are upset about routine infant circumcision, which is very different and mostly done because of cultural inertia and parents just plain not knowing any better.
(not preaching it as gospel though. i had that done 20 years ago by now, no idea if penile medicine has made any significant breakthroughs inbetween)
and i have experienced neither performance issues nor felt like i missed out on anything, though i imagine a kick between the legs would hit harder.
