The Niraya Complex [NSFW, GORE]

After the tendrils wrap around them enough times, Imos notices the tips appear like little gelatinous hands… As he observes one tentacle for long enough, it lashes out towards him, wrapping around the lizard’s neck tightly enough to prevent breathing.

As the cat allows the tentacles to carry him, most let go and seize around Grimm and Imos, letting Nyanta drag on his back along the tunnel floor, only restrained mostly around his legs. Soon, he passes right by a few more mummified corpses of himself and Imos. Crumpled around one cat’s corpse, Nyanta can see another “torch” flamethrower within his reach.
 
It’s built just like the empty one he’s carrying now, but that one cradled by the dead body has a greenish-yellow light on the side, signifying that it’s loaded and ready to fire, though if he were to use it, he might incinerate his companions caught in the blast…

grimms nostrils were on her chest, and tightly sealed. She was tearing thrigh tendrils as quick as possible

grimm was fireproof, imos would likely end up with burns. It was worth saving their lives

with the giant’s approval the cat took aim for the heart of the dark pit of death and let loose with fire hissing at the darkness

A plume of what amounts to burning rocket fuel suffuses and saturates althroughout the tunnel, scathing off flesh not just due to the flame, but by the caustic fuel reacting harshly with whatever it touches, whether flammable or not. As the acrid smoke slowly flows down the tunnel the way they were being dragged, the tentacles all appear to’ve been defoliated… though Imos and Grimm have both seen better days.
 
Both getting up, the first thing they notice is a lack of sensation across their lower bodies. Turning to eachother, then looking down at themselves, they see why; below their chests, everything is deeply burned and cracked, down to the muscles visibly contorting between dried skin and scale on every movement…

grimm had been built for punishment like this, her carapace was already shedding and healing, immense heat coming from the groaning beast

Midnight quick he coughs as he gets up and meows out see where the closet medical lab is!

Both of their bodies heal up rapidly from the still-crackling burns, but gnarled flaws can be seen across the new molts…
 
Something in that fuel must be partially inhibiting the two from fully healing correctly.

As the smoke finally clears, looking down toward the crimson-lit tunnel they were being taken through, Nyanta begins to remember back when he’d seen himself as a melted blob, though the bright distant light is visible to Imos and Grimm too.

Midnight: “checking.”
 
Imos: “grah… hah… please let it finally be dead for real… this thing was holding a personal grudge and i don’t wanna experience the next time.”

“wait a sec… we have regenerating flesh, and apparently that fuel was rigged to interfere with that… oh bloody fucking HELL… the gore took over god knows how many iterations of us and has a healing factor!”

he pats the lizard imos imos. We can do this. We can kill it.

As Nyanta reassures Imos, a bloodcurdling howl echoes up the tunnel…
 
Whatever they’ve escaped the clutches of is coming this way, obscuring the distant crimson light up ahead as it moves.
