Furbooru Mascot Name Voting

Selene, because of how dangerously close to my own OC name it is. XD

I voted other, and came up with “Fuwane” - which I got from running the phrase “fluffy fox” through Google Translate into Japanese, getting “fuwafuwa kitsune” as a result, and deciding that that particular portmanteau sounded the best to me.
 
Or, if the whole “starry” aspect is more emphasized, I ran “starry fox” through Google Translate into Japanese, got “hoshizora kitsune” as a result, and came up with “Zorane”, which I’m not as happy with. (Maybe just “Zora”?)

Also I think that the character deserves having at least two names. Such as a first and a last name, or something like “Nuzzles the Furball”. Or anything else more distinct. Of course only one part of it will be mostly used by people, but I’d like a full name, to give an existing example would be Miles “Tails” Prower, which is first, nick-, and last name.

LOL you’re right… the Astra 400 and Astra 600 are Spanish guns used in service from the 20s through the 50s. They were exported to Nazi Germany in World War II, being used by the German Luftwaffe.
 
That’s, uhh, an unfortunate coincidence- unless some troll set us up. I don’t think they did. Probs just a coincidence.
 
That said, it kinda leaves a sour taste in my mouth. It’s not a big deal, but is there any way I can change my vote to something else? Just wondering.

144,790 Astra pistols were sold to the Nazis, of which 101,840 were delivered successfully before the allied invasion of Southern France in August of 1944, and most were delivered well before that time. Half of all Astra 400s, the bulk of their pistols, were sold to Nazis.

I think I was the one that proposed that name, and it was from among a bunch of star/moon/celestial body related names. If it makes you feel any better, the factory workers rebelled against the rebellion and produced arms for the antifascists as well.

Just as a little note, ‘astra’ is literally Latin for ‘stars’ (presumably added for the fact that the mascot is dark blue with what look like stars dotted through them) and Latin mottos with some variation of ‘ad astra’, ‘to the stars’ are fairly common. As an example, the motto of the Royal Air Force is ‘per ardua ad astra’, ‘through struggle to the stars’. Also, the cinema on pretty much every RAF base is called ‘The Astra’ by consequence.
