Anyone else getting "targeted" or am I just "unlucky"?

So last time I’ve uploaded a small batch of my art, there was a suspicious downvote activity, primarily on my fursona posts, it was a little weird considering all previous art was unaffected, but I just shrug it off until I upload again, which I just did, and almost immediately, I just get what at this point I believe is the same guy just spamming downvotes left and right while other posts from other people don’t get anything like that.

Is my artstyle ugly? Is my fursona ugly? What is it? The reason I hate the downvote button on any site is that it never asks the user to leave any sort of feedback so I, as an artist could potentially fix whatever the hell is wrong with my stuff.

Says there’s only one downvote per upload on your recent art when I look at it. That means a person didn’t care for it. Unfortunate, but I don’t think I’d consider that targeted.

If you suspect someone is targeting (or ‘brigading’) your works, please report one for a reason of “Other” and explain in the text field what you think is happening.

Someone on staff will take a look at the downvoters to see if there is a pattern of abuse. Indiscriminately downvoting images based on their tags and/or content is not ok here, and if someone is targeting your drawings we will talk with them about it.

Most often, when I look at downvotes, what I find is people who actually like or follow that artist, but just don’t like one character, or don’t like a particular ship.

Rarely - VERY rarely - it turns out that it’s an old lover who is still bitter, or an artist who considers someone else to be ‘competition’ and so downvotes all of their work to make their own look better.

But it’s almost always that it’s just that a character or ship you drew isn’t something that someone likes.

If you’d like me to check out an image, I can - just let me know by reporting one of your works and let me know in the text field what you suspect is going on.

And if you’d like an art critique, post one of your images in the Art Chat forum and let folks know that you’d like a critique, and WHAT KIND of critique you are looking for.

That last part is important - if you want a college-level ‘break my balls’ critique, you can get it. Because there’s people on this site who have been professionally yelled at and those usually go straight to things like anatomy and figure and background and pose - composition and shit like that. Stuff like palette reviews. So - if you want this kind of critique, ask for it and you will get it.

But if what you really want is something more on the line of “encourage me to improve without breaking my soul”, - things like ’Try drawing this figure sitting on a chair” instead of “You need about 3 months of gesture sketch sessions - WEEKLY” instead, be sure you say that.

And, report one of your images you most suspect of being suspicious, and I’ll take a look at it and will let you know what I find.

But it will involve maths.

Thank you for the words of advice, had no idea you can actually look at who exactly votes, thought it’s just faves that are logged, but alas. Coming from e6, I knew what I was getting downvotes for, got a couple of DMs, think I worked on what people had gripes on or they just forgot and I’m just frequent enough to be in the green numbers, not that I particularly care about that, but the thing that just activates my paranoia neurons wanting me to investigate is when I get the red down arrow on both here and e6 at around the same time, it’s wayyyy too improbable for me to say someone’s tapped into my network and actively follows all that I post just to antagonize me, so I’ll just leave it for the time being.
I suppose this site is actually more active than I’ve thought so it makes sense there’s not just people looking for each other and there’s just a few ones that tend to disagree, could be just me not tagging my stuff enough, in that case, gah, ye moron, why don’t you add the tags yourself!1!1!1!1

Anyway, as it stands I’m rather likely to not be in any danger from actually being targeted, just got a bit silly.

If that happened on this site, please report those for Rule #0. You can click the “Report conversation” link on the top of the message, and that gives us both your permission, and a means, to see the PM so we can respond to it if the person who sent it to you was breaking rules, like if it seems they are harassing you.

Again, please report that. If you think someone is stalking and harassing you on this site we’ll look into it.

We can look into that too. But I need you to pick an image that you suspect it on. I can’t look at all your images trying to find a pattern - I need someplace to start. Maybe this is due to you not tagging something, and the downvotes are all people who hate that thing that you are not tagging. If that’s the case, it will be pretty obvious as soon as I look at the image and the downvoters, and then I can let you know that by adding that tag you’ll avoid some negative responses.

Don’t really get the mass-downvoting because of the themes when you can simply hide content you don’t want to see. But just a random thought — one of the possible causes I can see here is someone being mad because of massive the amount of the same character being uploaded at once. But otherwise, yeah, might be someone just not liking the character/themes/whatever and downvoting it instead of filtering.
