Temptation

All she wants is to be able to skateboard and have some fun, but the convent won’t let her, they’re afraid she’ll hurt herself. So all she can do is watch all the kids having their own fun and see the Jesus print skateboard that she wants, continue to go down in price, constantly out of reach. But It’s not hopeless, one day she will get her wish and be free to road surf to her heart’s content.

This piece was made for Saintversa, here and on Twitter. I fell in love with their skateboarding nun, Sister Mary and her little story and just really wanted to paint this scene. I started working on this months ago, but with personal things getting in the way, I only just found the motivation to finish working on it. It was originally started using Corel Painter 15, which is why the textures on the fur and habit are so detailed, but since I don’t really use that anymore, the rest was finished in Clip Studio Paint. I still have a lot to learn about painting glass reflections and how to light something on either side of it, but for what it’s worth, I think this turned out really good and I’m glad this is the final piece for 2020.
