Shipping tags, should we have them?

A quick thought before I sleep, should we have ship name tags? There’s no doubt a dozen here already naturally but I don’t know if we should keep them and allow them to be and propogate them. Again something that is easy to curate on Derpi with one series focus. On a site that allows a lot more it can get messy fast, unless it is done the slash or x type ways, but even still, seems a lot to worry about and I think it’s best to have no shipnames, regardless of how huge or small.
 
Thoughts? Also if decdied to purge them, might want to write that somewhere important.

That honestly feels like the real problem with allowing ship names. Even with a single series to focus on they can get out of hand in a hurry (especially with fan OCs in the mix), and with this site being more open (content wise), that could become a real problem very fast. As in, a pages upon pages of ship names problem. Of course, I suppose there is also the counterargument where you have to ask how many character ships will become prominent enough that people can even remember there is a specific name for it, let along use it frequently, but I still think it never hurts to err on the side of caution.

if they’re notable enough, imo.
 
for example, when i was uploading warrior cats images i don’t plan on tagging every single ship but i did tag notably popular ones. (i.e. mothpool and ravenbarley, which both have hundreds of pieces of fanart - god i need to get around to uploading more wc art but there’s so much. it’s almost on par with mlp.)

I’m of the opinion no. There’s way too many series, and hell you can crack ship across series too. You can already search character name, character name, shipping

Agreed. I think the site should generally encourage users to combine tags when searching/filtering rather than trying to create a new tag for a specific situation.

I’ll go with no because I have handled the shipping tags general back at Derpibooru enough to know that’s pretty much an endless time consuming work that will be escalated to infinite here on Furbi and I don’t want Staff to commit to minor tasks taking away their work time from more important matters.
 
Most if not all shipping tags created here so far are related to pony as people in Derpibooru are used to them so it’s just a matter of changing the culture which is the right time to do so.
