As you might now many coat/fur markings are called after existing objects.
So it’s not far-fetched to wonder about how those tags will be handled for consistency sake.

For instance look at horse markings (source: wikipedia).

A few selected examples would be:
• star: “star (coat marking)” or “star (marking)” or “star (facial marking)”
• stocking: “stocking (coat marking)” or “stocking (marking)” or “stocking (leg marking)”
• stripe: “stripe (coat marking)” or “stripe (marking)” or “stripe (leg marking)”

So the main difference boils down to
“[Marking_Name] ([Coat]||[Fur|] marking)”
vs
“[Marking_Name] (marking)”
vs
“[Marking_Name] ([Body_Part] marking)”

I personally would favour the last option because:
• Fur and coat technically are different things and it would eliminate coat/fur duplicates.
• Adding the body part would make it more clear to people who don’t know what it is supposed to mean. While “stocking” might be self-evident, “star” isn’t.
• It also would specify body parts such as “stripe (facial marking)” and “stripe (chest marking)” and “stripe (tail marking)” etc.

• Ad “stripe” 1: Non-local stuff like zebra striping in contrast would be “striped (coat pattern)”.
• Ad “stripe” 2: More common tags such as “striped tail” could be aliased to “stripe (tail marking)” (or the other way around).
