@NyantaStarhunt Tries to put himself back into the firing-stance he’d been taught, but keeps flailing his weapon around at the near-dozen wolves remaining, starting to get a sense he may be in over his head with what he’s gotten himself into, as he keeps glancing around toward every snarl and bark.
@EclecticInspiration
(doo eet. It’s a chance for Riggs to fite, so I say take it. There’s up to 10 wolves still bearing down anyways)
@NyantaStarhunt Taking aim at another beast rather than waiting for them to make a move, he pulls the trigger; the hammer falling on an empty chamber after four shots. Throughout this sudden terror, the shark searches his coldsuit for one of the extra cylinder-mag things to replace the unfamiliar gun’s empty one with, but fumbles while ejecting the spent one, dropping the fresh one into the snow.
@Coriolanus @NyantaStarhunt
A few loud shots ring out as a canine of a different calibre arrives- Riggs, chief of security, heads up where they’ve just come from, an unfamiliar sidearm in her hand while an equally unfamiliar rifle dangles from a sling around her.
@Coriolanus @NyantaStarhunt
“Well, I managed to follow you two’s pawprints. Surely we can find them.” She holsters her sidearm and slings her rifle onto her back. “It might be safer to wait if there’s more predators out there, though.”
@EclecticInspiration@NyantaStarhunt [ ♪ ] Slowly and methodically reloads his own gun now that things’ve calmed down, then stows it behind his waist above his tail.
“If they see us, maybe there’s something we can use as a sign? Would they recognize that cartographing stone of yours?”
@NyantaStarhunt
“If we could just make contact with them… it’s only the three of us. What’s there to be so fearful of?” He takes a look around into the surrounding trees, hoping to catch a glimpse of something, then eventually turns to Riggs.
@EclecticInspiration
“Do you have a deployable radio, Olive? I think mine’s antennas got fried during that fray.”
@Ramesh
“I do- I wasn’t sure how long we’d be out so I brought a pretty serious one.”
@NyantaStarhunt
“They’d be foolish to only watch- even if we’re armed, we’ve no right to be hanging around their den all day. We might at least make camp to get away from the cold- preferably not in their den unless you plan to challenge them.”
@EclecticInspiration@NyantaStarhunt [ ♪ ] Not noticing until now how fast the temperature has dropped, he rubs his snout, wiping off a bit of ice. “Hooboi… we really are in for the long haul, aren’t we…” Points to an outcropping with a cave at it’s base, right next to the glade they’re in. “Those wolves aren’t using that anymore. Maybe we can?”
@Coriolanus he whistles loudly and nods You two go…I wil ltry to call them…real quick. he pulled his stone out and rubbed his thumb over it. starting to pray
@EclecticInspiration@NyantaStarhunt Leaving the pathfinder to prepare himself, Rameshvara retreats with Olive over into the cave to shelter from the cold winds, slogging through dense snow, until their feet reach dry, smoothly-eroded stone past the cave’s entryway.
“…feel this is something like Boreans’ll have to go through on a daily basis, besides those living snug in the capital?”
@Coriolanus
“Hopefully not,” she says with a small shiver. “They should have some square border defense, and some nice heating elements throughout civilization- if they don’t lean towards totally indoor living, anyhow.” She raises a kerchief over her muzzle and huffs a bit to warm up her snoot.
