sure enough the particles began to cling to her, but her arm began moving on its own.

she remained steadfast, willing for her hand to return to the hammers pommel. She was relaxed, having many years of battle experience proved useful here

she saw her scales turn black and purple, runes carving into her skin the same way they had with any other dragon hero. soon however the flow subsided.

her hammer came out, and was promptly slammed against the crystal, intending to use the sharp corners to cause a fracture

perhaps the worm had oversold the toughness, one miniscule shard went flying already, embedding itself in her forehead painfully.
 
Worm: “hmm, you are the first one to get this far… maybe it’s become brittle?”
 
no such thing, the rest of the crystal, while now adorned with some hairline fractures, stood firm.

the one in her forehead was unmoving nestled between her brows, and she could feel what he meant by the power too, it was alive, and it was angry… that was the real trial, the shard at the end would just be a bonus, she had to keep this beast on a leash or it would turn on her… at any moment.

the hammer was brought back, then slammed down again on the crystal

not much, sure she was powerful but this required something more primal.

she did as instructed, and with a gutteral growl she slammed down the hammer once more in the exact same spot

as she drew on it, purple flames surrounded her, not dissimilar to Kae’s fel fire, and the strike nearly bent her hammer, but it was the crystal that gave, a shard almost the size of a shortsword falling from it.
 
“no living being other than you should handle that one directly… the resulting power surge would rip up a squaremile in all directions completely.”

Can it be fused with my hammer? I am less than used to a shortsword, and shortswords are illogical for one of my size.

looking at the face of her hammer a dusting of black crystals had embedded in it from the sheer force.

Hm. I will set about forging the shortsword into something more adequate for my fighting. If all else fails i will break it and embed it within myself or my hammer.
 
she reached down and picked up the crystal shortsword
