“I’m glad you know about it because I’m not totally sure what I’ll be doing there yet. I learn as I go. Did you need anything done here?”

“we’re doing quite well here, for the moment in any case.”

“Good- I hope it stays that way. I’ll be off, then.” And so she’ll make to leave, mount her birb, and get going.

(Ive been cleaning up machines full of mud thats packed like concrete.

(i know that feel, in fact the mud from the pieces of land our machines drive on can be baked into roof tiles, so it is the nearest thing to concrete.)

it was nearly a day’s travel but soon the fort came into sight the surroundings looking hostile, and thorny vines clambering up the walls.
 
Worm: “ah, you feel it don’t you? the rot is strong in many places, but it is strongest here, the wyld only permitted enough presence to let the balance up, not so much that it rebels. i can speak to you personally at the throne room, i feel it is time you saw me truly.”

“You’re strong here- I could just about navigate the place blind…” She heads in, first gazing upon her surroundings with great interest, but quickly speeding up as she walks with purpose.

the depictions showed mostly victories of the old clan, including Agniya tearing a particularly massive treant apart, though she was clearly in the bloom of youth then.

Aye, although calling her old where she can hear it may not be the wisest idea, even if there’s a good chance she won’t act on it.  
She makes her way to the throne room as requested, walking straight in rather uncharacteristically. It was odd to enter a place like a normal person, albeit not terribly so.

behind the throne was what looked like a pool of pitch, literally black as a starless night.
 
Worm: “it suits you to walk like a queen, my chosen.”
 
from the pool rose a black serpentine mass, revealing itself as the worm, and clarifying the reason it was called the dragon clan as that was indeed not a worm’s head.
 
“I am the worm, the taker, the breaker… death manifest.”

She bows, for once doing so like a noble or royalty might, rather than as a peasant; perhaps not because of her intent to be queen, but because of the wyrm’s status. She rises. “I’ve been waiting for this.”

the head leans down over the throne, overshadowing the rat.
 
“you have? how interesting, i figured you would be anxious to take a seat on a different throne, that of my little pet lion.”

“You misunderstand. I appreciate you whispering in my ear but it’s better to see you face-to-face. I’d think someone as interested in relationships as you would get that.” That sounds a bit like a joke.  
This possible joke is funnier considering she’s glad to meet death himself in person.

a dark laughter echoes through the room at that.
 
“everyone needs a hobby my champion, and i always wanted to know what someone born with my mark could do. ten thousand years and every last one of them was celibate, can you believe it?”
