Polio Epidemic
Cain got up from his chair & Approached his son. kneeling down infront of the prince Cain could only help but smile at his heir.
CAIN: Adolf, Cain smiled straitening his fancy clothes.
CAIN: I Trust you are well looked after & every one is kind to you & your siblings.
ADOLF: Yes Father. Smiles
CAIN: I have to go away from Atlantis for a while to see to this Polio Epidemic But your grandfather will stay here. huh.?.
CAIN: He is to be kept warm And well.
DANIEL: I’m sure he will be fine. I’ll watch after him & his siblings while your away.
CAIN: And if Heaven forbid you should fall ill. * Cain turns to Daniel & The Nanny* Dose him with this
DANIEL: What is this stuff?
CAIN: I made it myself its my own remedy.
CAIN: * turned back to Adolf with a smile and kissed him
CAIN: I have to leave now Adolf to see if there is anyway I can help with this polio epidemic.
ADOLF: Whats Polio.?
CAIN: its a very contagious virus thats spreading like wild fire around here. Its life threatening And causes paralysis in the muscles. sometimes death if it affects the lungs.
ADOLF: OK I see.
CAIN: Your my special boy you know that.? * Cain said still stroking his son’s cheek
ADOLF: Yes Father
CAIN: so you be a good boy for the Nurse maid & Grandpa. And watch over your little brother & sisters for me.
ADOLF: I will father
CAIN: Smiled as he Closed the locket & placed it back in Adolf’s pocket. Cain then placed Chilla’s necklace around his son’s neck
NURSE MAID: C-mon Adolf lets go back to the play room. The prince took his Nanny’s hand & began to walk out looking back at his father before he left.
it had been two days since Cain had gone Upon checking on Adolf & the others one night Elise had noticed that Adolf had a high fever as she kneeled down to kiss the sweet prince. Elise placed her hand on his head to feel reassuring that he had a fever & quickly sent for the Royal Physician.
DOCTOR: It’s a flu possibly Polio. He’s the 18th case this week
ELISE: Possibly,?
DOCTOR: Polio starts out as a common Flu Most all children who have had contracted the Poliovirus all the cases reported starting as a Flu like illness.
ELISE: The King is not gonna like this
FEGELIEN: How about we not tell him
ELISE: I don’t know thats not really a good idea
FEGELIEN what the Fuhrer don’t know won’t hurt him
ELISE: Thats A Horrible thought he needs to know
DANIEL: Is his life in danger?
DOCTOR: If the Polio prosis then yes. At this stage Adolf is very contagious. the young Prince must be kept in enforced isolation Quarantine away from the kings other healthy children in the palace. to keep the Polio from spreading.
DANIEL: Will he survive.?
DOCTOR: If he does survive then he will never be able to walk again what Polio does is it kills a particular cell in the nervous system called the interior corn cell. and this cell tells the muscles what to do.
DANIEL: Poor Adolf, And Poor Cain when he finds out.
DOCTOR: If the prince does recover from the illness everything he touched or used during his illness must be burned at once. clothes blankets pillows
It had only been a few days since Cain had been gone. when he got the news of his son’s demise
CAIN: This had better be important
MESSENGER: I’m sorry sir But I came as fast as I could to tell you
CAIN: Tell me what?
MESSENGER: It’s your son Adolf. He’s contracted Polio
CAIN: What! * Cain dashes out as fast as he could
DAMIEN: CAIN WAIT COME BACK * But Cain was gone
Cain raced back to the palace as fast as he could Until he reached his son’s bedchamber & large sighn with red letters warned Cain not to enter. But Adolf Needed him.
When Cain entered his son’s bedchamber he was struck with grief & shock as he approached his son sitting on his bed. Cain scooped up Adolf into his arms & embraced him gently rocking him as he sat in the middle of his bed sobbing & crying knowing that Adolf would never be the same again
Since Adolf had contracted Polio Chilla’s father Daniel pressured his son inlaw to take Adolf to a doctor at the Hospital for more advanced medical help. Though the grandfather was still grieving over the loss of his only child. it was Chilla’s five children that kept chilla alive in him & kept him going.
after Adolf had contracted Polio & was un able to walk The mideviel Physicians kept the young prince confined in his chambers & bedridden for over a year for which Adolf was forbidden to go out side in fear that he would get hurt or get sicker. doctors would assets Adolf every morning & treat him with hymopathic medicine. which Daniel explained to Cain was not going to help Adolf get any better. These confrontations between the Nazi & the Jew would often escalate to heated debates over Adolf’s well being. By the time Adolf reached the age of 5 The Deformity & paralysis in his legs caused from the polio made it Impossible for Adolf to get around. Sometimes Cain , & the nurse maids would carry Adolf from room to room. unlike his brothers & sisters who could use there wings for flight. The paralisis caused from the polio had disabled Adolf’s ability to fly. leaving the young heir grounded. but Adolf’s Doctors thought that the hopping was not good for Adolf’s Spinal cord And soon caused him great pain from lack of physical therapy. Adolf didn’t get his braces & Crutches till he was 5
