I’ve been on and off with toon shading with Blender. I’ve dabbled in it a little, but everytime I’ve tried working with it I can’t say I’ve liked it. This is the first time I’ve taken a more heartfelt attempt.

All the same, this render is inspired by the Lofi Girl. The idea was to have Rita at her holo-desk, studying something extraneous. But I didn’t like seeing her face in a side profile, so I had her away from her desk a little looking at a tablet instead, sort of facing the camera.

Lofi Girl has a pet cat of sorts. Rita didn’t really have any sort of pet, but I was reminded of Jake the Dewott’s Wolfbot. After some thinking, I thought it would be appropriate to include Wolfbot as a cameo. After a short convo with Jake, he’s agreed to include Wolfbot, and after some weeks of work I remade him. I was going to have him asleep on the window sill, but that seemed a little off, so I had him on a table to the side, cutely curled up in a bed of sorts.
