Description
Bit late to this, but I’ve been feeling increasingly disturbed by ‘cancel culture’ and the general trend of overt political correctness. Lola’s toned-down redesign for the new Space Jam movie was kind of the last straw for me.. I spent like half an hour ranting about it to my husband. >-> So here’s Lola as I remember her, in all her original glory - proof that women could be both tough and sexy.
Edit: This has drawn more attention than I expected or am used to. It seems that cancel culture has become a loaded term that embodies certain beliefs based on where you stand. Perhaps it was naive of me to think I could express my thoughts without risking a personal attack in such a divided climate..it’s also telling that some assumed my gender and political leanings based on my brief description and my choice to depict Lola this way.Art-wise, I think this is the first time I’ve actually made something with a particular statement. I drew Lola mainly as a way to challenge myself towards creating something more dynamic and complex than what I’m used to. Overall, I’m pretty satisfied with the results and am glad that many seem to like it. = )Debating on the internet causes me unwanted anxiety ^^; and takes my limited time and energy away from art. For peace of mind, I may not respond to future comments (unless commission-related). Thank you to those who left kind words and favourites though. I appreciate it. :)
