Regular physical activity is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle.
The boys, however, certainly don’t need such excuses to play a friendly match of their favorite sport, Touchball!Touchball is played with two teams of seven, and two identical balls. Each play lasts until the two balls make contact with each other, after which both teams return to their starting positions to begin again.
The field is divided into nine sections, four for each team plus a double-wide neutral zone in the middle. Whenever the balls touch, they award points to the team whose territory their contact isn’t happening on. As such, both teams are working to push the balls as deep as possible into their opponent’s territory before making them touch. The zones, in increasing order of their distance to the neutral zone, are worth 1, 2, 4, and 8 points, and any team who manages to score 9 points or more wins a “set”. The scores are then reset to zero and a new set begins.
The game lasts six sets, and the first team to win four sets wins the match. If both teams are tied at three sets at the end of the game, a special extra set is played in which a third ball is introduced, to both complicate and hasten plays. The balls can be carried or thrown, but not kicked. Contact between players is restricted to only touching the balls themselves or the arms of other players. Gloves are mandatory, to prevent the possibility of claw injuries. Earning a penalty for your team makes your opponent’s team begin play further to the front of their territory, giving them a headstart in carrying their ball into your territory.Right now Cyrcas is about to score a neat four-pointer for his team, and Shiro is less than thrilled about this.
