Gotta really test those machines hard, make sure they can do the job…

It’s finally done! The project that’s kept me busy for nearly two months. My biggest, longest and most ambitious animation yet. It’s not perfect- not by a long shot. I still have much improvement to make in the actual art of animation, it’s probably the weakest of my 3D skills at the moment. There are some places where tails clip through stuff, there are some places where textures stretch in weird ways, there are places where I didn’t plan the timing well enough so I had to kill time with filler movements and sometimes it’s a bit awkward… focus is weirdly out in some scenes and somehow I didn’t notice until the final render. I could go on, believe me. But despite all the little issues, I’m still pretty proud of this! I’ve never done an animation with this much moving around, so many moving pieces to keep track of. I really pushed myself on all of this, both making the bird model and the animation, so even though I’ve got a heck of a lot of improving to do, I’m dang happy with it. And I hope you like it too! I’d love to hear what you think of it. :D

The Hitachi wand, Sybian and control box models were made by Sentharn I still had them sitting around and they fit the bill for this animation perfectly so I tossed ‘em in. In case it wasn’t clear, Nidhala isn’t only a fan of her own machines but has a very healthy appreciation of the work of others, and I’m sure she also likes to take them apart and see how they tick from time to time. When she’s not busy using them. :P
