“Mighty Shantae”

A mashup of Comcept’s “Mighty No. 9” and Wayforward’s “Shantae.” Both are funded kickstarter games that you should check out:

Oh, the colorssss! Damn you, red and gold! I really want to use you but you keep having complimentary problems. It’s for the best. I briefly tried a red version of this, but it turned her into Iron Man. So, you’re blue, baby. I think what finally made everything click was just making her pants black. After that, trying to zone everything out was easy.

The thing about combining genders is that you have to pick one or the other. Or, you know, get into some more confusing, sexy territory. But anyway. Yeah, I decided for a female base since most of the details were going to be Mighty 9’s. If I had gone male, it would have basically been Mighty 9 in genie pants with more skin and purple hair for some reason. I could have done it, but whoo. Nope.

Otherwise, a pretty easy mashup. Both are around the same size and a lot of the details are based on the same general body proportions. The biggest challenge was trying to turn mech shoes into genie shoes. Again, like with the prior Shantae mashup, I had to resort to an exposed stomach (and shoes) to get the tonality of everything to come together. Pretty annoying (not as much to me as the Knight version), but it must be done.

I liked this result. I didn’t expect it to come out well while working in color - that’s for sure - but once I decided to go with black as a main, everything came together nicely. Then again, I really like black bases for outfits.
