“Shantae Knight”

A mashup of Wayforward’s “Shantae” and Yacht Club’s “Shovel Knight.” Both are funded kickstarter games that you should check out:

Unlike a normal combination, the Shovel Knight has no face (that I know of), so he’s basically walking cosplay when it comes to these sort of things. As such, we get Shantae effectively wearing the good Knight as armor. The alternative would be to take the Knight and slim down the armor, maybe expose some skin, but leave the helmet mostly intact, making him the base. I didn’t care for that, mostly because I felt it lost too much personality, and ended up making Shovel Knight way too dominant.

She actually looked better in red, but I felt like it was orienting too strongly around Shantae as it was, so it took me forever to get her color theory down to what it is here. In the process I had to drop the original chainmail. (Her arms and waist were originally planned to be covered, as I detest female armor designs that have exposed sections.) The design needed the negative split bare skin gives it, though, so I just went with it.

Surprisingly tough mashup, this one. Still not sure if I really nailed it, but I think I got fairly close. More adventures for the lady knight to come.
