Description

This image is for the upcoming werewolf calendar 2016

I was really excited to be able to do something with werewolves and Egyptian mythology. I always wondered what it would have been like if the Egyptians saw werewolves and created the Jackal God Anubis from theses sightings.

My Caption:
While many ascribed the depiction of anthropomorphized deities in ancient Egyptian culture to be allegorical metaphors to the natural world in which humans existed, some scholars now suspect there may have been a seed of truth to some of these wild bestiaries. Though it was originally thought by zoologists that the Egyptian jackal morphology was more closely related to African jackals, recent studies have resulted in a startling revelation showing a closer link between the modern gray wolf and the Egyptian jackal. Coupling this with both ancient lore and modern accounts of jackals thought to be seen in bipedal stances, it is very likely that werewolves may have a long intimate place in Egyptian history.
