So like, I don’t know who I’m writing to exactly… my new bestie said it was someone called the internet, I think? Anyways, they suggested that I show you, the internet, this! It’s what I look like - I hope that you all like my new outfit I brought with them yesterday!

Sorry, I’d love to chat but I gotta dash now, but if you have any questions you would like to ask me Mr. Internet, ask away, and I’ll do my best to answer them when I get back! Hopefully my bestie can show me how to actually do that though… they’ve been acting kinda forgetful just now… it’s almost as if they’re forgetting about that Internet, huh? I think they’ll enjoy their summer here with me either way guys – though that’s our little secret! 😉

Tiffy <3

Tiffany Jones, or just Tiffy for short, is an anthropomorphic yellow-crested cockatoo, who lives only within the world contained inside of a cursed VHS tape. She is bubbly, kind, supportive, and very energetic! She enjoys spending her time shopping at her local mall, working out at the aerobics classes she runs there, and hanging out with all of her friends!

The cover of the aforementioned tape is blank, apart from the handwritten ‘Summer ‘86’ text upon its cover. The tape has no anomalous properties… that is, until an individual puts it into a working VCR. Upon doing this, it shall start playing footage that is too garbled to decipher, seemingly having been worn out over time. This footage shall just come out as a mess of colours, with degraded 1980’s pop music being played in the background. However, after a few seconds of this, anyone in the immediate area viewing the tape shall be magically sucked into the screen and enter the world that Tiffy resides in!

The visitor shall find themselves somewhere in the fictional city of ‘Hollycroft’ after being sucked into the screen - this city is located somewhere in southern England. Most notably, everyone within Hollycroft is some type of anthropomorphic animal, and all are modelled after various 1980’s media tropes, archetypes, and trends; colourful and bold 1980’s fashion is all very plentiful here, and the same aesthetics apply to the overall architecture of the city too. Should the visitor try to leave the city, they shall be met by nothing but endless countryside stretching on forever, though all of the inhabitants of this world act as if this is not the case, and that Hollycroft is in fact a very real place with places beyond it.

Once inside of her world, it is only a matter of time before the visitor starts being altered to better fit into it – specifically by being physically transformed. The transformation will always occur to the visitor sometime during their first 24 hours within Hollycroft, with the process taking anywhere between one minute to all day to conclude.

The changes usually consist of the visitor being transformed into another resident of this small, idyllic English city, though on occasion, they might become someone from out of town, or something else entirely! Hollycroft has a population of around 250,000, with a small, urban commercial and cultural hub at its core, surrounded by suburban residential zones. The populous are often very friendly and chipper.

Each time a visitor is taken into Hollycroft, they are typically transformed into a different, unique being. However, it is possible that they become the same character they have been once before, with the likelihood of this being increased if that’s what they personally desire. Usually, visitors end up as someone who is connected to Tiffy in some capacity, such as a friend, relative, partner, or even Tiffy herself. Mental changes can also occur to visitors during the transformation process, including memory and personality changes, as well as alterations in their abilities/skills. To what capacity this happens is seemingly random - whether that be no mental changes occurring at all, or an absolute overhaul of their mind. Any physical or mental changes that occur within Hollycroft are undone upon the visitor leaving, though they retain their memories of the time they spent there.

The visitor cannot escape back into the real world by any means until enough time has passed. This time period ranges from approximately the end of May, through until the start of September, 1986. At this point, the visitor shall be ejected back into the real world. Should they desire, they can re-enter Tiffy’s world at any time by reinserting the VHS tape into a VCR. Additionally, time passes much slower in the real world in comparison to the passage of time in Hollycroft – roughly one month in Hollycroft means only around an hour passes in the real world.

No matter how the visitor acts, everyone else in Hollycroft shall act as if they’re the character that they are to become, or have already become. Hollycroft residents will dismiss the existence of humans or the ‘real world’ should the visitor bring this up, along with any notion that they are not the character Tiffy has chosen them to become. Should the visitor become violent, exceptionally distressed, or too disruptive in some fashion, then this will result in their minds getting wiped and replaced with that of the character they’ve become during their time in Hollycroft, should this not have already happened.

Apart from Tiffy, no residents of Hollycroft remember previous visits made, with all of the inhabitants seemingly being stuck in a time loop that resets itself upon the visitor being ejected around the start of September, 1986.

Multiple copies of the VHS tape exist, and have been known to appear at numerous locations such as in pawn shops, in storage areas, or simply in the homes of random people. The tape is not anomalous in terms of its durability, and can be damaged or destroyed like any standard VHS tape. However, should that occur, after approximately 48 hours and when the damaged/destroyed tape isn’t being directly observed, an undamaged copy of the tape shall manifest around the general location of the old tape to replace it. It is unknown where the tape comes from, how many copies there are, or how it is able to appear in these random locations, though it is likely that Tiffy is involved in this process, somehow.

Whilst she has never admitted this to any of her visitors, Tiffy is aware that they are not actually the character that they have become, but rather a visitor from the real world - though she plays along as if this is not the case. Truthfully, she is totally in control of the time they spend with her in Hollycroft, essentially having god-like powers within her realm.

The main thing that Tiffy wants is to give all of her visitors a fun time, and perhaps teach them some kind of lesson or skill. If she notices that a visitor is struggling with something specific in their lives, she will often tailor their visit around this thing. For example, maybe a shy, introverted girl enters Hollycroft and has low self-esteem? No problem – being Tiffy’s jacked, punk rocker boyfriend for the summer shall help out with that. What about a man who’s been feeling lethargic as of late? Him ending up as Tiffy’s enthusiastic, sporty mother could be just what the doctor ordered! She always shows up to her daughter’s classes when she can, bless her…
And speaking of mothers - Tiffy has a family! Whilst the residents of Hollycroft are typically randomised from visit to visit, there are four characters who are always there in every instance - Tiffy, her sister Ivy, and her parents, Keith and Samantha.

Samantha ‘Sammy’ Jones
Samantha, often just called Sammy by her friends and family, is the mother of Ivy and Tiffany Jones. Born and bred in Hollycroft, she’s never felt the need to move away from her hometown, and enjoys the community of her local area. She’s well known for being a chipper, talkative, and slightly nosy lady who loves to help out others.

Sammy is also known for being an avid baker, and a big supporter of her daughter’s aerobics classes - often taking her similarly aged friends along to work out together and have a good natter afterwards.

Keith Jones
Keith works as a binman, and hails from Yorkshire - still retaining a strong accent even after residing in Hollycroft for well over two decades. He met his wife, Samantha, back in the 1950’s whilst working as cleaner at a seaside resort, which is a story his two daughters are rather tired of him recounting at this point. Keith enjoys the simple things in life, working on practical things, and keeping things straight-forward. In spite of having a rather gruff demeanour, he can be quite sensitive on the inside, and is a reliable shoulder to lean on when one needs some support.

During his free time, Keith can often be found relaxing in the garden, watching football on the telly, or at his local working men’s club, having a pint and a smoke with some of his mates. Whilst being a bit of a technophobe, and not very in-touch with the young’uns, he always makes an effort to be there for his daughters and show an interest in their hobbies… even if that bleepy-boopy electronic music Tiffy likes sounds like a load of rubbish to his ears.

Ivy Jones
Ivy, the elder sister of Tiffy, is an ambitious and hard-working businesswoman who spends much of her time trading stocks in Canary Wharf. She loves being in the thick of things, and has a taste for high-fashion, the latest trends, and the finer things in life.

She moved out shortly after her 19th birthday, thanks to her love of fast-paced environments making her hometown seem rather dull and uneventful. However, she always loves to come back home and spend time with family and friends whenever she can, coffee usually in-hand! Visitors to Hollycroft will often catch her living at the Jones household for the summer!
