Beaver teeth are worn down by chewing wood, I think a light filing would let them keep shape. It’s actually a clever way for a “civilized” beaver to keep her teeth ground down. Beaver teeth constantly grow and chewing trees keeps them in check. Since she wouldn’t be out in the woods chewing random trees it makes sense to use a file.
