All due respect and everything to you, bro, but… Not only is this my style, it means a lot to me. I first became depressed when I was a young tween, facing bullying at school from the “popular” kids, and at home from my dad. But when everyone else was mocking me because my dyspraxia prevents me from playing volleyball well, I started impersonating Gir while on the court. When someone else got my reference and joined in, we quickly became friends. This later snowballed into me making many more friends who wore this style, who were open with their queerness at a time when my father would get into yelling matches with me over it. The punk scene of the time offered an outlet in which I found support for everything I was going through, as did my high school’s GSA that us punx also joined.
Really, the only cringe thing here is passing judgment on this style by calling it “cringe”. Maybe think a little more about what punk/scene/emo/alt style might mean to someone before referring to it with such a condescending term.
