At a glance, Ashbel will probably appear a bit absent from his surroundings or indifferent about them altogether. The monotonous routine set up by his work is usually to blame. He is usually left in a bored state of mind, stuck in the routine and unable to really be himself. This doesn’t mean that he is unfriendly- he’s far from it. Ashbel is actually pretty lonely so whenever someone does decide to chat with him, he is surprisingly amiable, albeit a little shy at first. This is because he tends to worry a bit much about… everything. His first thoughts usually revolve around whether he is being polite or nice enough. Then he may worry about if he’s boring. Eventually his thoughts will probably wander towards his appearance. Scaring someone off because of a slip up in his illusion is the last thing Ash would want. Accidents like this rarely happen, but Ashbel worries about it anyway. In general, Ashbel is pretty awkward.

Once Ashbel views someone as a friend, they can depend on him to be caring and loyal under most circumstances. He values anyone who he grows attached to and will do whatever he can to make them happy. If he feels like he owes someone, then he will persistently do anything he can to repay the favor [whether they want it or not]. This is like the only time Ashbel will probably seem pushy or maybe even overbearing. He is also pretty strict about keeping promises and gets quite upset when they are broken. Ashbel usually has a calm and passive demeanor, but like most people he is capable of getting angry. He is incredibly patient, but if someone pushed him enough he would explode and it wouldn’t be pretty. As a demon of fire, his rage is like a flame itself: wild and unpredictable. He may seem like an entirely different person and calming him wouldn’t be easy. Fortunately this doesn’t happen very often.

History:
-Nothing more than an ember of a fire demon, Ashbel isn’t considered very powerful where he comes from. He’s a lesser demon and was treated as such. As a result he was always petulant and even aggressive, especially towards humankind.
-He moved to the human world at a young age and would often perform malicious deeds. He hurt lost travelers, spread disease, set fire to homes, etc. It pleased him to see that there were beings weaker than himself. He adored feeling in power.
Word quickly spread of a reckless demon performing evil left and right. It took only a single exorcist to stop him another reminder that he truly was a lesser demon. Ashbel was apprehended and was to be executed in the morning for all to see.
-A curious young lady snuck in, wanting to see the demon before it was killed the next day. Ashbel, utterly dejected by now, entertained her with some conversation. They talked late into the night and in such a short time they became friends. She actually forgave Ashbel for his actions, and he was moved by the human heart and its capacity for compassion. He promised her that he would never repeat these actions and that he wouldn’t harm people in such a way ever again. She freed him and they parted ways shortly afterwards, but Ashbel has remained true to his word.
-He currently works at a grocery store in the modern human world. It’s a little monotonous but it pays much better than any job he could find in the demon world.
-He uses this money to pay rent for the dingy apartment room he currently lives in. He doesn’t mind the living conditions very much and he doesn’t seem ambitious enough to strive for something better..
