Another Thanksgiving’s come and gone, so I may as well have drawn part two of Janice’s birth.
Today had been quite busy for Hermey, so he couldn’t immediately visit Janice. Eventually, when he closed his office at 7pm, he went over to Rudolph and Clarice’s cave to visit.
“Good evening, lovebirds, and congrats,” said Hermey as he entered the cave. “How’s Janice? It is Janice, right?” “Yup. And here she is,” Rudolph said as he led him in. There, Hermey saw Janice beside Clarice. Instantly his heart melted. “Good heavens, she’s so precious,” he said.
At that moment, Janice’s front left leg started moving. “How about that,” said Rudolph. “It looks like Janice is trying to get up.” Indeed, Janice was moving her legs. She had only been born several hours ago and she was already starting to figure out how to use her legs. Soon, she was up on her front legs. Then slowly and surely, she got up on her back legs until she was finally standing on all fours. Rudolph, Clarice and Hermey were impressed.
“Way to go, Janice,” said Clarice. “Do you think she’ll try to walk next?” Hermey asked. “Give her time, Hermey. She did just figure out how to stand,” said Rudolph.
Suddenly, Janice plopped back down on the haypile. “You did great, Janice. Your first time standing turned out great.” said Rudolph.
At that moment, having learned what she figured out, Janice got back on her legs. And much to everyone’s surprise, Janice slowly but surely moved her front right leg. Then she moved her front left leg. Soon, her back legs were moving. Although her legs were wobbly, that didn’t stop her from walking for the first time.
Rudolph, Clarice and Hermey were even more impressed. Janice was only several hours old and she had already figured out how to stand and walk. “You’re doing great, Janice! Just put one foot in front of the other,” Rudolph said in an excited yet soft tone. Hermey commented, “That’s a real smart kid you have.” Indeed she was.
