Description

Here’s a recent piece I’ve been working on during my free time lately.
I tried to edit the original scan more than usual this time around, trying out some ideas I had. It pains me so much that I’ve always been unable to share my art online with all of you properly because of my Scanner…
My colored works are NEVER done justice what so ever and it infuriates me. :/ Just another aspect of the Curse of a Traditional Artist in a digital age I suppose. Its horrible for an artist trying to make a living when the work they share is 40% of the quality of the actual work they produce. The art I share is suppose to show people the quality of what I have to offer and if I cannot do that then it hurts me and its not fair for me or for everyone else either. Luckily, I can share my uncolored work in a better quality then the originals through digital enhancements and edits at the least.
This touched up version is still not a proper representation of the original physical work, but its a slight improvement. What I hate the most is how the scanner’s light reflects off of the pencil led making dark black lines look gray and blurred. I like to think that my fine line work is one of the aspects which defines my work and art style, Fine, defined line work with muted faded colors, and to have that ruined or diminished whenever I want to share my work is a horrible and discouraging feeling.
What I really need to do is learn how to properly photograph my work, I bought a rather nice camera last year but Haven’t gotten around to actually messing around with it yet, I’m not even sure if it came with the correct lens I need yet. Figuring out how to use the camera is just one thing, finding out how to properly light the artwork and probably a million other things will need to be figured out as well. Lol
But anyways, sorry for the rant. I’m sure eventually everything will work out. :)
Hope you all enjoy this piece of art even with its flaws,I can at least say the scan is decent enough to share, I have seen worse scans before.
