Both commissions are of his Coywolf Ranger Character Caelum. Was a bit of a challenge designing a coywolf. Besides their size and fur patterns only subtle differences (differences which can already be found in wolf genetics) separate them from a wolf, people even go as far as just considering them another sub-species of wolf entirely. For those who don’t know, a coywolf is the offspring of a wolf and a coyote. In the end I just approached it as making artistic style choices based upon my knowlage of wolf anatomy and what the Commissioner seemed to have in mind.
Another challenging aspect to this piece in particular was that it was the first time I attempted to portray a “Wounded” Character’s wounds and emotion. Suffice to say, I was successful, with all things considered anyways. :)
Here is a little story excerpt written by skythe-soulblade to accompany this image.
“There was no time to waste, I had to break the chains, I could care less about the keys for now, what was important was those I was charged with protecting. With what little I had, and with fate on my side I was able to find my blade, Ethereal. So now I push forward deeper into these caverns, for my pride was wounded, my charges captured, and my wrath unsated….”
As always, I again found it most pleasurable to work with another writer. If I could one day work for authors and writers day by day for a living I’d be a VERY happy fellow! Perhaps one day. _
Hope you all enjoy this piece, and another HUGE thank you to :iconskythe-soulblade: ! Especially for surprising me with two commissions on the spot. :) (Smile)
