The Nine Lives Of Fritz The CatOn June 26, 1974, the sequel to Ralph Bakshi’s 1972 X-rated hit FRITZ THE CAT was released. The film was known as THE NINE LIVES OF FRITZ THE CAT. The film celebrates it’s 40th birthday this year. I wanted to save this pic for it’s “big day” but I’ll put it up now, seeing how this film is still on my mind.It is the 1970s; Fritz the Cat is now married, on welfare, and has a child named Ralphie, who casually masturbates, thanks to his father’s teachings. As his wife screams at him for being an irresponsible father and husband, Fritz sits on the couch, staring off into space, smoking a joint. Tired of listening to his wife nag at him, he fades off into his own little world, imagining his 8 previous lives, including being an orderly to Hitler, an astronaut, and a delivery boy for Henry Kissinger. This film is….strange, and that’s saying a lot coming from me. Gorgeous cartoony designs and animation, and a lively music score by Tom Scott….but the film suffers from odd pacing, sloppy storytelling, and lack of real imagination. Overall, it’s not as good as the first film, but it’s not entirely unwatchable. It has it’s moments of political satire and 70’s commentary. Worth a look.Trailer ===>> www.youtube.com/watch?v=muQcgU…
