We’ve seen a pretty good bit about all the fun and shenanigans that Jack gets up to in the dark little corners of the Shift-Tec facilities, but she works awfully hard, too! Aside from all the (perhaps not strictly necessary) duct crawling she does, being a mechanical maintenance technician can involve a lot of physical work in tight quarters and hot conditions.

Today, one of the big pumps in a cooling tower finally gasped its last. Jack’s been working to extend the old workhorse’s useful life, but it’s finally too far gone for a rebuild. It was a good little pump, and Jack will give it a nice send-off after salvaging what parts she can out of it, but that will have to come later. She’s spent the better part of the day getting it removed and replaced, and while you’d think they would make these things easy to get to, not everybody designs their equipment with service-opossums in mind.

It was hard work, and Jack has gotten pretty grunged up and has also worked up quite a sweat. She’s just about soaking under those coveralls, so she’s zipped down to sit for a spell and air out a little bit. It seems that someone has happened across her break spot, though! Jack didn’t intend to put on a show for anyone, but if her surprise visitor likes what they see, well, she’s not too tired for a little more work! Jack likes it down and dirty, and she’s fond of the slightly lecherous expression “good love got a smell.” Anyone happening across a dirt-caked, sweaty opossum smelling of hard work and machine grease, and still finding themselves turned on? That’s Jack’s kind of people, right there.
