The Forest’s own intrepid freelance gonzo journalist is out in the field! At first blush, it might look like Gale is delivering a weather report, but she’s actually embedded with a team of storm chasers! The Forest itself tends to get pretty mild weather, but there’s all sorts of interesting atmospheric conditions farther out, and any time you have extreme weather you can be sure that storm chasers aren’t far behind.

Gale finds these folks fascinating, and she’s gathering material to write about their adventures. Missing some of the excitement of living outside the Forest, a group of them have come together to find their adrenaline fix by chasing down and documenting passing storm cells outside the Greater Forest Area. Half amateur meteorologists and half amateur reporters, the group gets their most exciting kicks by recording what amounts to guerilla weather reports in the middle of the worst of it. Gale is more of a journalist than a reporter, but she’s no fair-weather ride-along! While she’s out doing field work, she’s in it, and if she’s going to learn about what makes this folks tick and write the truth of the real experiences they have, she’s not going to turn down an offered microphone! She bursts out of the back of the chaser’s wild custom van into the howling wind, turns back to the camera safely mounted inside, and delivers the best damn on-location storm report she can. At least for today, she’s one of the crew!
