Description

A small concept idea for the armor and weaponry an Ajshar (catfolk of my setting) warrior might use. I’ve done similar concepts over the years, but I feel this time I’ve finally reached a design I’m happy with. While it is based on armors from existing cultures, I feel like this time it’s original-looking enough to be “their own thing”, rather than a ripoff from some real museum piece.
I think I’ve also finally reached a solution on how to draw a helmet that could accomodate giant ears, by simply bending them backwards as much as possible, but I’ll probably talk more about that in some future posts.
If you are wondering about the bird-like shape of the helmet, that’s because it’s meant to represent a Raa’kish Bird, one of the most fearsome animals of the region. These terror birds are often used as cavalry units, and they also have a religious symbolism.
The flower-like decorations on the armor also have a religious significance, at least in some Ajshari cultures.
At some point I really should make a post about the different Ajshari nations, ethnic groups, religions, outfits and such, especially since an armor like the one portrayed above would be used only by certain cultures and not all of them. Sorry for the rambling, I’ll stop now :P
