Sometimes I really enjoy drawing slice of life images of my setting, rather than focusing just on my main characters.

A Herimash (one of the two catfolk species of my setting) hunter has returned home from a long and fruitful hunting trip, only to find out his first son was born in the meantime, a bit sooner than anticipated. Despite this, the little furball appears healthy and ready to grow up just as strong as his fathers, a blessing for the family and the community as a whole.

The Herimash society is generally matriarchal and polyandric, with a single female being in charge of the household and “married” to several males. Despite this, their communities are extremely egalitarian, and generally everyone gets a say on how things are run in the village.
A council of the wisest (and often oldest) women has the task of making important decisions concerning the whole community, healing the sick as well as carrying out religious rituals of good fortune and protection against malevolent spirits. Men, on the other hand, often grow up to be warriors or hunters, protecting the community from physical threats. There are however common exceptions to these gender roles, such as female hunters or male healers.

The Herimash usually inhabit densely forested areas, generally along the coasts, and they are mainly found in tropical or sub-tropical regions, though some tribes can be found in temperate areas as well. They generally live in small nomadic or semi-nomadic tribes, and this makes them vulnerable to other sentient species encroaching into their territories, especially when these outsiders have large kingdoms and armies backing their efforts.
Many Herimash have integrated in more dominant cultures and live in Human or Ajshari cities. Their original languages and traditions are often lost in the process.
