The Apple Dipshit Gang goes Trading
When we last left them, the gang was mercilessly robbing lonely gentlemen who were lured to their fate by Drip T. Rat in a pretty dress. While quite lucrative, the boys start to feel the heat of the lawman and retreat into Indian Territory, hopefully to obtain horses and supplies.
Normally the tribes are reluctant to trade with the gang, due to the fact that a medicine man must be employed to cleanse the area of evil spirits afterwards. But at this point the gang has cleared enough money from the lonely gentlemen to more than cover the cost of a medicine man as well as the needed supplies. Two young ladies left over from the previous stagecoach heist seals the deal.
Only the chief dares to directly deal with the “Dark One,” as Mr. Salem is known. While the haggling is going on, Drip Rat tries to impress the Indian women by going native himself. The women give him the Indian name “Short Twig (that is easily bent).” Tony “Mulefoot” Ray, who can speak enough of their language to get by, tells Drip it means “Tall Stiff Warrior.” Drip never understands why Indian maidens he tries to pick up by telling them his tribal name laugh at him rather than inviting him into the furs. Tony Ray tells him it’s because they’re so intimidated by his name they’re afraid to do anything else. This image shows Tony Ray sampling a local fermented beverage with a friendly tribesman.
The chief tells the gang they must take one of his braves as a guide through their territory (he is shown standing behind the chief in this image). The chief makes it seem like he’s making a great sacrifice by parting with his mighty warrior, but in reality he’s been looking for a way to get rid of this particular tribesman for months. Known as “Big Crazy Fuck who is Violent,” he’s been kicked out of tribe after tribe like a blanket infected with smallpox. The chief hopes he will meet an unfortunate end with the gang, particularly if the law gets a tip on where they might be…
