From the Artist:
This one comes with a short story, enjoy:It was a day Erica wouldn’t forget. She was hitting her limits and losing interest in artistic pursuits. Everything she had made lately felt uninspired and artificial. While the critics loved her works, she couldn’t help but resent them for everything they weren’t.After school, she went to her theater club like usual, mindlessly giving direction from behind the curtains, not even really paying attention to the performances the actors practiced on stage. One of the volunteer stagehands, a small jackalope girl she would come to know very well, was helping paint some props for an upcoming show and just so happened to be the one Erica ordered to fix a small mistake on one of the pink glittery wooden cloud cut-outs hung from two hooks above them. The girl grabbed a can of the glittery paint, a brush, and a ladder then climbed up to fix the cloud and just as she got to the top of the ladder it happened.Erica remembered every detail of the few seconds after. The girls pants caught on a loose bolt in the ladder and the sudden tug of her trousers caused her to lose both her balance and knock the cloud off one of the hooks, which spun around on the other, smacking right into her backside. This sent her lurching forward and with her panicked flailing she send the can of paint flying into the air and right onto her head. The sudden shift also happened to cause the ladder to tilt forward as well, which would have brought it and the girl crashing out onto the stage if not for the fact that the poor girls underpants somehow snagged onto the free hook from before. The girl stopped falling suddenly, being stopped by her own flower patterned panties. Meanwhile the ladder continued to fall, not only pulling the jackalopes still caught pants down her legs, but also pulling her right out into the spotlight before stopping halfway. While most of the theater club laughed or took pictures of the poor girl, Erica was enamored by the perfection and candid emotions she had just witnessed. She knew art when she saw it and from that point on, she sought to recreate that moment and many more like it.
