The idea is that you could belong somewhere so much, be cherished and perhaps loved so much, that someone wanted to collar you and parade you around as their personal slut/plaything/pet/etc., regardless of the time or place, and similarly, that you could cherish and love them so much to submit to them and be all theirs to do with as they pleased, regardless of who was around.
