As my understanding of Ancient Egyptian mythology and artistic conventions develop, the more I feel inclined to inject that kind of knowledge into my worldbuilding. As such, after scouring through many photos of Egyptian art, I noticed a particular artistic trend that in hindsight I should have spotted sooner. In most depictions of the various deities, they typically had a large mane of blue hair (and yes I know there are exceptions to this rule, but for the most part they are just that, exceptions). Something that is even referenced a few times in their literature (one story likens a god’s hair to lapis lazuli, for instance).

It’s an interesting trope and considering that Merit is supposed to be a minor deity or demon, I figured that it would be appropriate to retcon her into having such a mane.

I think it looks fantastic on her, and Lingrimm did a fantastic job bringing this concept (and her character) to life.
