It is quite common in Japan. Japan’s water supply system is clean, and they generally as well as use sink water when cooking rice.

It sounds like you live somewhere that you don’t have your own well, or you don’t trust your town’s water supply. I hope that changes. Having fresh, delicious water from the tap is a wonderful experience and I wish more people had access to it.

Yeah .. I can’t imagine living somewhere that water from the tap wasn’t good for cooking or coffee or brewing. Or, like in this case, streaming rice.
Delicious water should be something everyone can have, like bright and delicious scallions and delicious pokemon roe.
