It’s the crossover no one wanted! I’m sure many of you have seen this allusion with the Cutie Mark Crusaders as the Powerpuff Girls.
 
Apple Bloom has a bow, just like Blossom (“bloom”, “blossom”), Scootaloo has the Rainbow Dash tomboyish attitude like Buttercup and Sweetie Belle as Bubbles, through the process of elimination. (And I’m sure Lauren Faust working on the PPG had something to do with that.)
